“Windfall Bar and Grill .... very dissapointing!”
We ate there 6/28, we were greeted by a waitress who said that it was her first day ... you're not kidding, she was clueless! I asked for a Genessee Cream ale, in a not from this planet stare, she asked me 3 times what that was! We were then met by someone from the kitchen who asked if we had ever been there before. She told us that they served very large portions and we should expect plenty of food. I asked her how many wings were in a 1/2 order... she suggested that I only get a half because of their portion size. To quote her ":we don't serve pigeon wings here, they are big". I ordered my half order and I got 6 wingdings... not full wings, not 2 piece wings, WINGDINGS!!! They were good, but a very small portion. In their defense, my wife and son's wrap sandwiches were rather large.
We ordered another bread basket, we got 2 butters instead, they eventually brought it and charged us $2 for a second basket. My son ordered a bowl of soup, he got a cup of soup, we had to check the bill.
Over all, not a great experience. We were there on vacation, if we go back to the area we will not go back to the Windfall. They were recommended by a local gift shop as a place to eat, quite frankly I don't see the attraction.

Dear Hotrod53, I'm so sorry to hear that you were so disappointed with your recent visit to the Windfall Bar and Grill. It sounds as though your frustration lies mostly with having a new waitress. It happens, sooner or later you will go out and experience a new waitress. We do our best with training our staff, but a first day waitress is nervous regardless of training. Because this is a public forum, I feel obligated to address specifically the things you took issue with other than our new staff member, so others reading the reviews understand our menu better as well. Bread only comes with Dinner Entrees, served with the salad course, and with an order of Mussels. Because of our remote location, it is impossible for us to get fresh bread delivered daily. For this reason, we buy par-baked bread which comes in frozen, and we finish the baking process in our ovens. Our menu does state that our food is all prepared to order, that it takes time, and we hope you feel it is worth the wait. The wings issue: we do not serve WingDings. WingDings is a brand of boneless wing. We serve Jumbo Chicken Wings, 10 to an order; and so a half order, which is what you ordered is 5 wings. My hope is that you will return on your next visit to Cranberry Lake, and allow us to demonstrate how our food and our staff operate on a standard of excellence every day; that what you experienced on your first visit was a new waitress, and in spite of that experience, as you said in your review, the food was good. Give us another try, as you can see we have 87% excellent reviews!
