Its Thanksgiving, so we branched out from our current haunt, the Foundry Cafe in Cold Spring, to Cornwall to try Fiddlestix. This is your typical very small owner run cafe in a quiet town. But the food was in no way typical. It was terrific. We had looked first at the menu online, it had some things that interested us. But when we arrived we were handed a paper bag with a list of breakfast specials that made me want to stay all day. I had carrot pecan pancakes flavored with just enough sugar and nutmeg that syrup was unnecessary. My friend had a spinach egg Benedict piled high. We shared an order of crusty sausage. It was all great.
This is not place to go in a hurry. The owner was cooking, and he made only one or two things at a time. We arrived after two other parties so we waited about half an hour. But the coffee was good and hot and kept coming. We had a table near the door, so it was also a bit of a chilly wait. But all worth it. Service was...well, lets just say it is a holiday so we are grateful they were there at all.
