“Great Place To Stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 22, 2005

The Lake Front Motel is the perfect place to stay when visting Cooperstown. Bill, the former owner, and his family make you feel at home. The place is clean and within walking distance to everything. The restaurant is nice for breakfast and they also have one of the "hottest" girls in Cooperstown working there.(and maybe the only one).

VERY clean...lovely location...however, be aware of the attack shower curtain! We were on the ground floor, room 40 - very small for a family of four. Pillows terribly uncomfortable and no extra towels available. No free coffee, newspaper or breakfast with visit; slight discount at restaurant (very slow service) only.

The Lakefront Motel is an older, 60's style motel situated right on Lake Otsego and within 2 blocks of the Baseball Hall of Fame.

The location was great and the room was spotless. The motel's restaurant/bait shop (!) provided a quiet, scenic place to eat an over-priced breakfast.

But, pack your earplugs. The walls are paper-thin, allowing even the most hushed conversations in the next room to be heard. The cramped bathroom's sink was recessed into the wall and mirror, causing simple tasks (such as spitting out toothpaste) to require the flexibility of Cathy Rigby.

All in all, not a bad place to stay if you're a heavy sleeper. But for $110 a night? There are certainly better options in town.

Stayed two nights. Ate in their resturant. Charges on our credit card came through for three different dining charges. Dined only once for dinner not three times. Resturant Management never disclosed additional charges to the credit card. Took initiative with manager and credit card company. Credits issued. Checked out, received an additional credit card charge for additional cleaning of room. Called motel next day. We left all trash and disposables bagged for disposal. Accused over the telephone of leaving the room trashed. We were charged on credit card for $ 30.00 without authorization for cleaning services. Amount is now being disputed
as un-authorized with the motel. Having traveled on business and personnally for over twenty five years we never encountered such a situation. We Will not come back. Attitude on the part of everyone we dealt with at the motel was one of arrogance and annoyance towards us, their guests. There are much better places to stay in Cooperstown.

Have ben coming to the Lake Front for over 10 years. Each room is different, some very small, the nicest the rooms A & B upstairs, they are more expensive but much larger. The motel sits right on the lake and provides boat tours in the summer. It is small family run motel and has a little restaurant/bar on the property and is a few blocks from hall of fame, restaurants and shopping. You are right in a residentual area. The Lake Front is at the botom of the hill and sits basically by itself. In the small rooms, dont expect much, showers are small, not a lot of ammenties but is quaint. We have stayed in almost every room there, just tell them what type of room you are looking for before you go !

My wife stayed at the Lake Front Motel Oct 5th & 6th, 2003. It is rated ** by AAA and it lives up to that. We had a deluxe room on the second floor. The room was clean and roomy and had beautiful of the lake. There is a restaurant on-site and serves a good breakfast & dinner in a casual setting. The outside of the motel could use a good renovation to the outside due to it's 1960's look. The best thing about the motel is it's location to the Hall-of-fame. All you have to do is take a short 5 minute walk up Fair St and your there. The hotel is right at a marina and is probably quite busy in the summer months but there isn't much action in October. All-in-all this wasn't a to bad of place to stay.

Lake Front Motel seemed to find our presence annoying. They have teeny soaps, tiny showers, and would cut no slack about something as simple as parking in the lot a couple of hours after checkout.
