Great location! Seems like recently renovated/updated. Beautiful view of lake too. Free breakfast at nice restaurant. Easy walk to Hall of Fame. No great value but felt like got what paid for. Clean rooms.

I've read some negative reviews about the Lake Front and I'm in shock. People are reviewing it as if it's the Ritz Carlton. You need to understand that this motel is similar to a beach motel on the Jersey shore. The picture on Trip Advisor is outdated. They renovated the hotel exterior and interior. Here are some things I enjoyed about the hotel:
1. Location. It is on the water and within walking distance to Main Street, Cooperstown.
2. Restaurant. All guest receive a free breakfast at the attached restaurant. This consists of a choice of french toast, pancakes, eggs, cereals, coffee or tea. If you eat there for dinner, you receive a 10% discount.
3. Bar. The restaurant also has a bar which has great drinks and specials.
4. Cruise. Guests receive one free coupon on the Glimmerglass boat which is a one hour tour of Lake Otsego.
5. Cleanliness: The room was clean and newly renovated. My kids loved that the maid arranged their stuffed animals on the bed each day.
6. Friendly. The staff was friendly and so were the guests. Most of the guests were families who were very laid-back. My husband was in a baseball tournament and every day they would ask him how he did. Often at night they would sit outside their rooms with a glass of wine and relaxing.
7. Quiet. Even though there is a bar/restuarant attached, I found it quiet at night.

Room Tip: Ask for the room either on the second floor (rooms 3,4,5, 6) or the rooms in the 30s which have bett...

Just back home from our 20th consecutive HOF induction week stay at this perfect location & excellent accommodation. Everything from house keeping, management & staff, relaxing comfort, glorious natural beauty of lake & hillsides and great sleeping on the most comfortable matress ever keeps us coming back. Some of the reviews here remind me that some folks seem to create their own environment of complaining just for the sake of complaining. Lake Front is a great place to stay & I didn't even comment on the fine restaurant for both indoor & patio dining. The food & service are outstanding. We are looking forward to our 21st year even as I write this review.

Our stay at the Lake Front Hotel couldn’t have been better. We started to plan room accommodations for our out-of-town wedding guests months in advance due to the high demand for rooms in Cooperstown during the summer when hundreds of families are in town for Little League tournaments and the Hall of Fame. It’s a family operation and they care about their hotel and customer service. Tulsa was our contact and our first visit we knew we had someone who cared about our party and wanted to do her best to accommodate all of us. We began a long and detailed series of emails and phone calls over six months. She was always professional, friendly and very responsive to all our inquiries and updates. She never lost track of any of the details and always kept us advised of the status of all of our guests reservations. With a small family business like this you have the advantage of dealing directly with the owners who have a vested interest in your satisfaction.

In addition to the room reservations, we decided to charter the Glimmerglass Queen, a tour boat owned by the same family and docked right at the foot of the property on Otsego Lake, for a rehearsal dinner for about 35 people. The Lakefront Restaurant on catered the party for us.

Starting with the rehearsal dinner cruise, I think all of our guests would agree that it was a magical night. We had the boat for three hours and the food and service couldn’t have been better. Paula, Tulsa’s Mom, was our “ship’s captain” and Joe, Tulsa’s husband ran the catering and bar service. We also had retained a local friend, Tim Iversen, to provide live music during the cruise. It was a perfect night and we would do it again in a second.

The hotel has been completely remodeled recently and we were all impressed with the quality of the upgrades and the attention to detail by the owners and contractors. We had to laugh as our guests commented on things like the quality of tile work and caulking and things you wouldn’t expect to hear. The rooms are very comfortable, clean and well maintained. If you are willing to pay a little more, we really enjoyed the end units facing the lake. The views from most rooms or balconies of the lake, mountains and marina were beautiful and peaceful. The breeze from the lake was a godsend when temperatures a few blocks away were near 90 degrees that week. We sat in the shade and enjoyed the cool breezes that were only available at the shore of the lake.

The complementary hot breakfast at the restaurant was another excellent benefit. We sometimes sat under umbrellas on the open deck which provided the breezes and beautiful views I mentioned above every morning. You can order from a nice complementary menu of eggs or pancakes or french toast, etc. or you can apply a credit towards anything else on the very nice a la carte breakfast menu. The food was excellent. Our guests were also provided with complimentary tickets for a one hour Glimmerglass Queen tour of Otsego Lake.

Our guests also enjoyed the short three block walk to the Hall of Fame and shopping.

For lunch or In the evenings, we really enjoyed sitting on the deck or inside the Lake Front Restaurant right there on the property. I believe Alex, another family member, is a CIA trained chef. He and his staff provides an impressive little menu for the restaurant and bar and there is live music some nights. The hotel may not make this claim, but we found that the restaurant and the hotel rooms are nearly soundproof and I was very impressed that we were never disturbed by any of the activity at the restaurant...even on Friday night when there was live music. Everyone was very considerate of the hotel guests.

Bottom line, our stay at the Lakefront was a beautiful and memorable experience. It’s a beautiful spot, the people were great and the accommodations were just what we needed. We can’t wait to return.

Room Tip: Loved the end rooms facing the lake across from the office or any of the rooms in the same building...

Everything is spotless and recently renovated. Staff is very friendly. Restaurant's food is unexpectedly very good with beautiful views of the Lake. B'fast is included with your room and there is a 10% discount on lunch and dinner with your room key.

Just stayed at the Lake Front for 3 nights. The location was perfect...we didn't use our car at all for those 3 days. It's a short 2 block walk to the beginning of the Main Street shopping/dining area. The room is a bit on the pricey side ($189 a night for a small room) but the location is ideal and part of the cost of your room includes a voucher to be used towards breakfast at the adjoining Lake Front Restaurant (you also get 10% off lunch or dinner there as a guest of the motel) and also a free admission ticket for the Glimmerglass Queen boat tour. To be honest, the boat tour wasn't really worth the hour, not much to see but the lake surrounded by woods.

The Pros: The rooms and baths were spotlessly clean and recently renovated, the location is perfect...easy walk to everything, the staff at the restaurant couldn't have been nicer (Especially Hahnna - make sure you ask for her to be your server, she's fantastic), nice cold air conditioning in the room

The Cons: (Had to really think hard for this one) The bed in our room was said to be a Queen Size, but there's no way it was that big; the restaurant had great food and fantastic staff, but there were always flys bothering us as we sat, and the Glimmerglass Queen boat ride was pretty disappointing.

All in all though - we will definetly be back.

Room Tip: We were in Room 27, which looked out towards the lake (Across a parking lot) Room 28 next to us had...

A great location spoiled by mediocre rooms and poor attitude of management. Although on the lake, most rooms look at a car park. The rooms are eccentric 1970-something with faux wood metal armchairs and Formica tables. Almost everything that could be moved is chained or locked to a wall and a peculiar warning is posted on the wall against removing "anything from the room for any reason." Toilet paper appeared to be rationed - finally got a full roll by requesting one at the front desk. Makes you wonder how the owners behave on their own vacations! Restaurant serves so-so food but with nice views and very nice staff. Overall stay somewhere else but visit the restaurant's outdoor deck for a sunset cocktail and then have dinner somewhere else.
