“Good & plenty”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 25, 2012

We had a big group, 22, we called and they got us in. It was a little hard to find, on Pioneer St. under the Tannin"something" inn. (Right behind the Info center on Main Street) Reasonably priced. Everyone loved their food. Glad we stopped in for dinner.

“Not bad, but there is a reason it's called the pit!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 18, 2012 via mobile

Food was fine and it's a little off main street, so it isn't all that crowded.

We had the pulled pork and it was great.

The atmosphere was TERRIBLE. Quite the dump with filthy carpet and really dated decor.

Overall though, a good choice when Cooperstown is crowded.

“Don't miss the early bird specials at The Pit”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 15, 2012

Excellent early bird special!
Crab legs and steak for $14.95 in a town with few bargains. You have to look for the entrance on a side street off the main streeet and go down into the basementlevel of the hotel.

“Misleading Special”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 12, 2012

I had the steak & shrimp $14.95 special. The steak was half the size of my cell phone and about 3/16" thick.I thought there was a hidden camera & they were screwing with me. I told the guy to charge more and give a real piece of meat- not this Jimmy Dean sausage they gave me.Ty Cobb wouldn't set foot in this place. The food wasn't terrible but a drunken Babe Ruth would go elsewhere.Never saw the waitress after the order was delivered - for $85 (left only 15% tip) you can do better in this town...local beer was very good.

“Dinner special was very good.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2012

My husband and I both had the dinner special of steak and crab legs. Both our meals were very good and the service was fine. The restaurant does need some serious updating, as it is dark inside and the carpeting was heavily stained. And the tables, chairs, and general decor are very dated.
