Since this hotel is very near where my parents live, I have stayed here on many occasions over the years, including just after it was renovated it back in the early 90's
(in case you're wondering, my father stays up late and blasts the TV, so I wouldn't get any sleep if I stayed there!). Unfortunately, they have allowed the hotel to become rundown. The room I stayed in was literally buried in cobwebs (I thought I was in a horror movie!). The bedding was filthy, and the carpeting was stained. The bathroom was in bad need of sand blasting (!), the TV didn't work, and there was no iron, ironing board, coffee maker, etc, even though the in-room documentation says they should be! Also, the inroom documentation is WAY out of date, mentioning area activities and restaurants that went out of business years ago! Even the in-room TV channel reference card was out-dated! Half the in-room lights didn't work. I actually made a list of everything that was wrong with the room - - it took up 10 lines! - - but I lost it, so I wrote this review from memory, and I'm sure I'm missing something! The staff has always been cordial, and the continental breakfast is good, although they have reduced the type of items offered over the years. My sister stayed at a far better hotel, nearby. For nearly the same price, it's worth the added travel time (two more miles from my folks) to go to her hotel (Hampton Inn, Commack). I can no longer recommend this hotel.
