We shacked up for a few nights at this hotel. A big plus is that it is right off the LIE (exit 51 headed east I believe). And it is easy to find. We checked in, and the gentleman was very friendly. The room was nice and clean. The bed was extremely comfortable. The breakfast they served wasn't all that great, but it was free and convenient. They had yogurt, one or two hot items like sausage and eggs, bagels, ceral, oatmeal, coffee, pastries, juices, etc. If you want a hot breakfast, there is a nice diner right next to the hotel. There is a walkway that takes you right there. But this place is great. Not spectacular, but it's very comfortable. I read a review about how this place was scary. Not sure why. They must have had a bad night. This place is fine.

This is a perfectly decent, no-frills hotel. I have stayed here several times while visiting family. Every time that I have stayed, I have been quite satisfied. It is true that the hallways are a bit run-down, but the rooms where I have stayed have always been clean, beds have been very comfortable, and the neighborhood is very quiet. Staff have been polite and pleasant, and the free continental breakfast in the morning is a plus. It includes the option of instant oatmeal (and coffee) if you like something hot. If you are looking for a clean room, a good night's sleep, and a nice breakfast in the morning, this place will satisfy. If you need luxury and elegance, you will be disappointed.

I stayed here for two nights while attending a family function nearby. All I wanted was your basic clean room at an affordable price, and the hotel does achieve that... certainly, I didn't see anything gross. But the place is definitely run-down and worn. Thin towels, threadbare carpet, a lone electric outlet with an overloaded extension cord... with a jarring high-end jacuzzi tub in my room (which was too tall for a short person to get into easily).

The staff tries its best and is friendly, but they don't exactly go the extra mile. They can tell you that the nearest railroad station is two miles away, and give you directions, but nobody thinks to have a copy of the schedule on hand.

If you're staying in the area and just want a place to lay your head, this would be fine. But if you expect to spend any time at all in the room, I'm sure you can find a better option.

Since this hotel is very near where my parents live, I have stayed here on many occasions over the years, including just after it was renovated it back in the early 90's
(in case you're wondering, my father stays up late and blasts the TV, so I wouldn't get any sleep if I stayed there!). Unfortunately, they have allowed the hotel to become rundown. The room I stayed in was literally buried in cobwebs (I thought I was in a horror movie!). The bedding was filthy, and the carpeting was stained. The bathroom was in bad need of sand blasting (!), the TV didn't work, and there was no iron, ironing board, coffee maker, etc, even though the in-room documentation says they should be! Also, the inroom documentation is WAY out of date, mentioning area activities and restaurants that went out of business years ago! Even the in-room TV channel reference card was out-dated! Half the in-room lights didn't work. I actually made a list of everything that was wrong with the room - - it took up 10 lines! - - but I lost it, so I wrote this review from memory, and I'm sure I'm missing something! The staff has always been cordial, and the continental breakfast is good, although they have reduced the type of items offered over the years. My sister stayed at a far better hotel, nearby. For nearly the same price, it's worth the added travel time (two more miles from my folks) to go to her hotel (Hampton Inn, Commack). I can no longer recommend this hotel.

Booked this hotel via Hotwire so we did not know the property name and precise location until the reservation was complete. Checked TripAdvisor and the "Scary" review for this hotel had me a little nervous. However, our stay was not bad at all and we were pleased for the price. This hotel is similar to thousands built in the 60's and 70's for chains like HoJo and Holiday Inn. Two story building , enclosed interior hallway, sliders facing parking area. Real "motel" decor and ammenities (outdoor pool, noisy ice machine, satellite dish, etc.) This place is beginning to show its age but it is well maintained and our room was clean and neat. It included a microwave and small fridge which we did not use but would be handy for some people. The property is located adjacent to a large office park and clearly the majority of its customers are business travelers. We saw a few trucks parked in the lot but I would not classify it as a trucker motel. Also probably used by local people for affordable accomodations for out of town guests, the occasional after prom party and of course a tryst or two and for budget minded tourists and families. The "strip club" appears to have been the old HoJo's restaurant associated with the hotel but it is now separated from the property with a stand of trees and bushes and a 6 foot page fence. Not intrusive in the slightest. In addition the place looks like a quiet restaurant/lounge. No "girls girls girls" sign or anything like that. Not sure if this really is a strip club ...could be a gay bar. I saw only men (well dressed) going in and out as we drove by. Now how did the other reviewer know this was a strip club??? The motel is immediately adjacent to the LIE east and west. Not a residential neighborhood and actually very quiet. A Bennigans is up the street. Also a group of stores is about a mile or so away (grocery, liquor, pharmacy, fast food, etc.). Lots of gas stations nearby. My only complaint is they did not have their sign lit at night when we arrived and it took a few minutes to track them down. We found the desk staff to be very friendly and helpful. We did not try the free continental breakfast as we normally find those types of things not to our liking. All in all a neat, clean comfortable place. If Commack works for you (it did for us...we went to a concert at Jones beach ..about an hour south and we also wanted to see the Hamptons...about an hour north ..so it was central for our needs) then this place is a good choice if you get it for a good price. The HOJO website rack rate was 100 dollars a night...we got it for 66 on Hotwire. For that price in Long Island in the summer it was a pretty good deal. There are clearly nicer places but you will get what you pay for. All in all not a bad place.
