Business requires me to stay at Subic/Olongapo at least once a month and I stayed at Vista Marina last week. I was originally wary of this hotel as there are quite a few bad reviews (mostly focusing on security) posted on this site, but when I stayed at The Lighthouse a few months ago, I crossed the road to give Vista Marina a look-see and though I'd give it a chance.
Service - Service is acceptable, not excessively attentive but quietly attentive. Before going there I called the hotel, and whoever answered me at the front desk even told me to just walk-in instead of making a reservation as it would entitle me to a 20% discount on published rates (of course, don't do this during peak season). I actually like their style of service, which is very unobtrusive.
Food - The only meal I ate there was the free breakfast, which was nothing spectacular but definitely more than enough: bread, rice, cereals, three or four dishes, an egg bar, coffee and juices. Breakfast is included in the room rate.
Room & Bath - The rooms are great, spacious enough for a family sharing a room to move around in. All rooms come with verandas (I think) and a bathtub. My only complaint is the mattress is too hard to be comfortable :|
Security - This was really my greatest concern as I was on a business trip and had my laptop with me. However, I didn't have problems, and even left my laptop open on the bed when I left the hotel for dinner.
Overall - Great value for business or leisure. I think the hotel charges a minimum fee (P500 inclusive of breakfast) for each extra person in a room, which makes it great for families who want to get away for a night or two.
