My family had a small gathering to research ancestors in the Utica area. Two of us cousins decided to stay at the Milkhouse B & B and we were absolutely delighted with the accommodations. We had the place to ourselves and the innkeeper, Theresa, thought of everything that could possibly make us comfortable at her inn. The beds are comfortable, the linens are pressed, the white towels are fluffy, and there's a hair dryer handy. The home itself is quite historic, and it's decorated in a style that many of us remember from our childhoods. It's charming and comfortable. There's ice tea in the fridge, fresh baked goods (we had muffins one day, cookies and cranberry bread on another day) for a late night snack, and a Keurig for an early morning coffee. Theresa is careful to inquire about food allergies and about when you would like your breakfast. She made delightful breakfasts for us on the three days we were there - raspberry pancakes, poached eggs on toast, blueberry waffles - always with juice and fruit salad, and your choice of coffee or tea from the Keurig. Besides being friendly and an accomplished cook,Theresa is very knowledgeable about local history and the local area. No doubt we'll be staying there whenever we visit the area.

Room tip: The downstairs room has a large, private bath and is easily accessible for anyone with mobility issues. I had a leg injury and was using a cane when i visited and had no problem.

This was our second time staying in this charming remodeled farm house. My wife and sister came for our son's graduation at Colgate, took two rooms for 3 nights and had the house to ourselves. The place is clean and quiet, and beds are comfortable. Teresa is friendly and cooks a great breakfast whenever you want. She was raised in the house and has lots of stories about what the place was like back then, just ask. Note that the stairs to the upstairs rooms are steep. but that was not a problem for us I would recommend this place to anyone.

Room tip: Downstairs room has larger bathroom.

We had a lovely stay at the inn when we visited our daughter at Colgate University. The hostess was extremely friendly and hospitable. She prepared a delicious breakfast which included eggs, fruit salad and fresh raspberry pancakes. The room was very clean and comfortable and quiet.

We stayed here on our trip from central PA to visit my family in Rome, NY. We had the downstairs bedroom with private bath. The kitchen was well stocked and a nice assortment of coffee and tea for the Keurig. Theresa made an awesome breakfast, fruit salad, pancakes and eggs. Blackberries and raspberries from their own vines were divine. Thanks for everything.

The McFaddens are wonderful hosts as we have stayed with them at the Milkhouse on numerous occasions for events at Hamilton College over the past 4 years. The one time they were unable to have us, they arranged our stay at another local B&B that was equally excellent. Both are great cooks and serve wonderful breakfast fare. This trip we were lucky to have fresh asparagus from their garden with our eggs. Even though it was a raw and rainy weekend we greatly enjoyed our visit which was made comfortable with hot tea, a warm fire and good conversation.
