We stayed at the FT spa and resort for two day 7/10 and 7/11 of 2004. The place was unbelievably dirty and unsafe. The fire marshals should shut the place down before a tragedy occurs. On both nights the fire alarms went off in the middle of the night. When I ask why at the front desk no one knew they had gone off. All the other bad reviews on this site are right on the money. It is a real shame that they can get away with deceiving travelers with their website and other advertising.

This is perhaps the worst hotel we have ever experienced with misleading advertising and over-inflated rates. The service was indifferent, the rooms were filthy and the place was generally creepy. Our room was so awful that we demanded a change (we were paying over $500 per night for a "suite"). We were relocated to one of the condos on the property. This was nearly as bad and scary since the window locks were broken. This place should be torn down. Please avoid at all costs. There do not appear to be many other options in the immediate vicinity which gives this awful place a lock on the market.

We have a long list of complaints, but have to say, when we reported them to the management they were understanding and refunded some of our money and let us out of our remaining booking.
The decor is pure 70's, which would be OK, weird, but kinda funny, if only the place were not falling apart. They need to get the bellhop off the front door and into the repair department.
Our room was a suite with a living room and separate bedroom. It was spacious. But it smelled like rotting cheese. I hoped it was temporary but the cleaning woman said it normally smells like cheese. Not a good thing. But we got some plug-ins and hoped for the best.
The bathroom was very large, whirlpool tub and separate shower. But the ceiling is falling in and the tile work is miserable.
The sheets and blankets were ready for goodwill. There were cobwebs in every window. And armchair had a broken arm. The painting above the couch had half the paint chipped off. A couch cushion looked like it had been attacked by a sharp instrument. Cigarette burns in the wall behind the couch.
But maybe they are trying to fix it up. I gather this from the various tools scattered outside the room, including a razor blade on the outside window sill. The tool shed near our room did not have a door, and all the tools and cleaning chemicals were available to anyone.
All in all, this place was bad, I would Not reccomend it at all!

I just got back from staying at the Friar Tuck "Resort and Spa" and I must say it was horrible. I was absolutely appalled by everything I saw. As soon as you walk into the lobby you are hit with a smell of mildew and mold, which i'm sure is due to the state of decay that the place is in. The pictues on their website are very misleading. The service was horrible, evrey employee that i encountered had an attitude (and working at a place like that I can see why). The rooms were disgusting, and everything was broken. There was no soap, loction, or blow dryer and when i asked for these things from the front desk i was put on hold several times for 20 minutes, and never got them. The outdoor patio was nice, Im assuming because it was in fact outside, in the fresh air. The pools were ok, but the paint was chipped off at the bottom, and there was dirt in them. The indoor pool was really bad, and the tiles surrounding the indoor pool were so slippery, i saw at least 3 little kids fall and smack their heads. I was also told there were 2 drownings in the indoor pool this past year!! I was absolutely disgusted by this place, and would tell anyone thinking of staying here to run the other way!! As for the good comments i read on here, i doubt anyone (besides management) could ever have anything good to say about the place.
