We happened upon this place by accident about three years ago. We were having a family reunion in Clayton and we could only get a room at the Thousand Island Inn because it was summer and every place in the region seemed like it was booked.
The Thousand Island Inn was a nightmare. My wife, children and myself literally left after ten minutes of receiving the keys to our room. We lost our deposit, but whatever. Anyway, we walked out, looked at each other, and realized we may be sleeping in our car for the reunion. We called around but could find nothing, so we asked the friendly Barista at Starbucks where a good place to stay would be....
...Enter Angel Rock. She suggested we try them, so we called. After telling them we just got to town and had to vacate the the substandard hotel in Clayton and my kids were not happy about sleeping in the car, we were told they were booked. We decided to go find my parents, who rented a house with my sister and her tribe to see if we could rent a closet or something. Five minutes after hanging up with Angel Rock, a very enthusiastic employee called me back and said a cabin just became available. Our luck was changing for the better.
The Cabins were very nice. Rustic but modern at the same time. Beautiful interiors, the appliances were perfect, and best of all, no bugs in the shower, on the lamp next to the bed, and the windows weren't propped open with sticks!
We have been going every year since. I cannot find one thing to complain about. Boat dock, fishing area, gorgeous cabins, outstanding staff, cleanliness, children's playground, and only a few minutes from Clayton. It was so peaceful and quiet there so sleep was easy.
I would recommend this place without hesitation. Unless, of course we have another family reunion, then I'm going to tell everyone how terrible it is so we can have more cabins to ourselves.
