“Awesome Room”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 15, 2014

What made my visit was the particular room I got; #271. It was on the 2nd floor at the end so it was quiet. The patio had a view of the lake and the bedroom had a view of the waterway where boats were approaching the lake. The room had 2 parts; 1 room, upon entrance, had a sofa, TV, small refridg, patio all which can be closed off by a door which leads to the bedroom and bathroom with whirlpool tub. I was there too early for check-in so I had lunch at the outside eating area and hung out by the pool - both very relaxing. Service was great. Room was cozy/clean. Breakfast room service was punctual and good. Loved sitting lakeside on the chairs you see on the website.

Inn on the Lake's location-although finding the driveway is near impossible the first time - cannot be beat. Much of the property features amazing views of the Lake, including the Adirondack-chair lined seawall, pool area and Shore Restaurant. The Restaurant is extremely reasonably priced for breakfast, especially for a hotel.

It can be a challenge to get a room as there are many event room blocks. Persistence and knowing the cancellation dates are key to securing a room and we were able to get one for a two night stay this past weekend. While the location is great, I was not as impressed by the rooms. They're dated, but clean. Charging a safe fee is lame. Either provide it as a guest benefit, or don't. Don't nickel and dime the guests.

I rarely stay in hotels in the Canandaigua area as we have local friends, but I'd consider a return visit to the Inn if the price was right and the nearby HIX wasn't available.

We booked a suite for the week of the 4th of July, arriving Sunday and staying thru Thursday. The room was spacious, clean, and has a very comfortable bed. I nice benefit of the suite is there a door which separates the bed room for the living area, which has a sofa couch, so those who want to stay up later can do without disturbing those in the bed room. The hotel is dog friendly, and though we are dog lovers, we did not bring a pet, and there was no issue in the room with smells from previous stays. The outdoor pool and indoor pool are both a decent size, and there is a hot tub in the indoor pool area, and a decent work out room. The location is fantastic, on the north end of the lake where there always seemed to be a nice breeze to keep cool when sitting on the chairs located on the lake front bulkhead. Not surprisingly we arrived on Sunday at 3PM, and the outdoor café/bar was crowded with boaters who dock for the day, but the next everyone cleared out, and we did not see crowds again like that for the remainder of the stay. When there is a wedding and the boaters are there its quite busy, so expect that weekend visits will be a bit more congested than what we experienced during the week. Anyway we thought it was a great place, with a great location, very good food, and nice amenities.

Room Tip: The suite has a sink and refrigerator, and a door which separates the sitting area from the bed room...

My experience at the Inn on the Lake was unlike any other. Although this may have been because it was my sister's wedding, the entire atmosphere of the property was beyond phenomenal. The staff was outstanding and the scenery was breathtaking! We were lucky and had 75 degree and sunny weather the entire weekend. The outside bar was a hit for all of the guests and the indoor restaurant offered some great dishes!! As for the wedding, everything was superb, including the food, wine, and decorations within the tent! Would recommend to anyone but especially people who have true appreciation for natural beauty and serenity!

Room Tip: I would recommend requesting one of the rooms with a balcony that overlooks beautiful Lake Canandaig...

A family member booked this resort for our family reunion after they spent a weekend at the Inn, and although it was nice, it is a little pricier than I like. It also was BUSY! They had 2 weddings there for the weekend, as well as the normal summer guests. The parking lot was consistently busy and it was hard to find a spot close to our door. As our family members arrived, some of their rooms were not ready, and had to wait in the VERY crowded lobby as wedding guests were arriving for their function. Our room was clean, and the beds comfortable. We did not have a view of the lake, which I think was for the best since those who did in our party said the weddings went well after midnight. It's an older hotel, and the walls are paper thin. I could hear the beep from the next room over when they opened their door. My poor brother and his wife had one of the bridal parties next to them and couldn't stand the noise anymore by 2am had to call down to the front desk. I think when they have weddings they need to think about guest placement since there are guests who want to sleep, and those who want to celebrate all night long (which is fun too, but not for those who want to sleep!) We ate in the restaurant, and the breakfast buffet is worth it, since you get coffee or juice with it. We used both the indoor and outdoor pools, which were nice. My favorite part was the adirondack chairs that are lined up at the lake front. I could sit there all day and relax! All in all, we enjoyed this hotel and what it has to offer with it's beautiful views and it was clean and the beds comfortable.

Room Tip: Ask if there are weddings planned for when you plan on staying, and if you don't care about lake...

This is a great wedding destination. If you are not visiting for this, beware the weekends are busy. We were there during the week and on the weekend. It is the only hotel on the lake. Lakeside view is a must. Make your reservations for a lakeside room early. Triple A and AARP discount of 10 percent. Kitchenette was nice with a college sized refrigerator. Kuerig machine in the rooms. Pool is small but lovely with a lakeside view. Rooms were spacious and clean. We had a toilet that didn't flush. After we called, it was fixed in 5 minutes. Restaurant food was good and adequate but not gourmet. Pleasant lakeside bar with dockage for boats. Live music in the evenings was great fun. Front desk and housekeeping service was very attentive. We would stay here again. Two floor hotel. We were in room 203. 5 minutes from downtown.

Room Tip: Lakeside view rooms.

We were fortunate to be assigned a lake view room. The Inn itself is older, and while an attempt is made to keep it fresh, you can tell it is a little dated. The doors of the room and bath room had dents and dings. The doors dividing areas were stainless steel and glass, dated.

The bed was comfy, everything could be laundered, no sketchy comforters.

The room was small, but the view was worth it all, and we had an outdoor patio to watch the water.

We had several events at the large wedding tent that is permanently up all summer. We had dinners in the tent, food was great, service was great, the view at the open end of the tent of the water was everything.

We had an event in the lounge and the choice of wines were vast, with lots of good Finger Lake area wines. Service was snappy and accurate. Typical good New York service.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view of the Lake. RESERVE IT!
