“Best B&B”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 30, 2013

We just returned from a getaway weekend to the chalet. It is the best B&B experience we have had ever. To Marg and Pattie a big thank you- you are the element that makes this our best. You are so welcoming, informative and do it in such an non intrusive way you leave feeling you are friends and not just customers. Your food - you make eating breakfast an experience to please the senses. You helped us arrange a sunrise hot air balloon ride with Liberty Balloon Rides - handing us over to again I think the nicest people in the business - Lee and Roger. I could go on about the chalet but hope readers get the chance to see for themselves.

Room Tip: Only three rooms so book early

Our children gave us a night at the Chalet as a gift last Christmas. As I wrote in the guest book in our room "what a beautifully wrapped present it was." The rustic log chalet on a hill surrounded by trees was so welcoming. We were warmly greeted by Margaret who gave us the tour that ended in our balcony room. My day had started very hectic and had a later start than anticipated and so my husband and I decided on an early dinner. We met Pattie and Margaret in the the massive kitchen to discuss dinner options. Out of their wicker basket they pulled various menus giving us details on each to help us decide. We took a short stroll on a path in the woods before leaving for dinner. While we were dining we discussed what a fabulous deck they had so we picked up some Finger Lakes Wine to take back to the Chalet to sit on the rockers and savor. It was a gorgeous evening with a beautiful full moon. We were joined at one point or another by the two other couples that were staying there as well as Pattie and Margaret. It was so relaxing! The next morning we had a gourmet three course breakfast on the deck. It was picture perfect. In discussing our lack of plans for the day, Margaret inquired about our interests and mapped out for us various activities to do that would take us in our homeward direction. We lazily sat on the deck and drank our coffee imagining being there in the other seasons of the year. When it was time to take our leave, we hugged our new friends and drove off with our map in hand. Our major disappointment for this place was that the rooms were booked for that evening otherwise we would have asked to extend our visit there.

What can we say that hasn't already been said? After years of staying at other inns and hotels in the Canandaigua/Geneva area, we found the Chalet of Canandaigua and fell in love. We were immediately drawn to the unique rustic log structure and secluded grounds. After speaking with Maggie & Pattie, we knew this was where we wanted to spend our vacation. Their warmth & sincerity (not to mention their extensive knowledge of the area!), the incomparable Lee Suite, the exceptional breakfasts and specially prepared dinners compelled us to immediately schedule another 7 day stay in October 2014. It's very obvious that Maggie & Pattie love what they do and share so much of themselves with their guests. We felt so much at home with them. The Chalet is truly a special place and there really aren't enough words to describe the feeling that you have when you are there. Thank you so much for a very cool and outstanding 7 days...can't wait to come back next year!

Room Tip: If we had our way, no one would ever choose the Lee Suite (so we could have it anytime we wanted it...

My husband and I just returned from our 4 night stay at the Chalet in Canandaigua and I am excited to write about our adventure. I can’t say enough about our hosts Margaret and Patty. They are exceptional in the world of bed and breakfasts. They made us feel at home from the first day and made us feel like family all throughout our visit. Their home is warm, comfortable, spacious and decorated perfectly for that luxury rustic experience we were looking for. Breakfast was a culinary work of art, delicious, beautiful to look at and modified to our specifications. Each evening a dessert was waiting for us. We never left for the day without a private consultation with Margaret to make sure we were hitting all the highlights of the area. The Chalet is centrally located for wine trails, antiquing, museums, parks and just 2 hours from Niagra Falls. Our hosts made sure we had reservations every night for great restaurants and helped us plan our daily routes. Our room was on the first floor so easily accessible to everything. We had a gas stove and a mini frig along with an extra sink and large mirror in the entry room. Perfect for two people trying to get ready at the same time. The king bed was very comfortable and we slept like a log. If you have an opportunity to stay at the Chalet, relax and enjoy. We feel you made the best choice. Thanks again to Patty and Margaret.

Once at the Chalet, We drove up a meandering driveway ...went past a large pond with an island in the middle and a weeping willow softly swaying from the breeze.. I saw turtles setting on a Log warming their selves in the sun. Once we arrived at the top of the drive...we saw....THE CHALET!, it was beautiful. We were greeted at the door with a big smile by Patti & Margret, they showed us around then we got settled in..it was our second visit to the chalet. We stayed in the spotless beautiful romantic, LEE room...the bed was very comfortable too. Margret & Patti told us places to visit .(.we really loved the winery that had special made chocolate to go with the wine)Morning came,we were seated on the deck .the air was chilled but they turned on heaters so we were warm ( a tiny toad was perched on the railing while we ate)...Margret & Patti go out of their way with making a three course breakfast starting with coffee or tea and juice ...each delicious dish is explained in detail and presentation is too pretty to eat...but we did ;) On our main plate was a candle that was lit....it was a zero for our beginning first year of marriage..(second marriage for both, knew each other since first grade) they are so thoughtful!! The entire Chalet is so Beautiful! Thanks to Patti & Margret..?..it was a beautiful Honeymoon! .we will be back Mr & Mrs Jim & Christine Cummins Homer City,PA

Room Tip: Not a swimming pool..it was a Victorian high tub.... ;). Or a Hugh glass shower. No Fitness Cen...

My husband and I just spent 3 nights at the chalet...clearly not long enough....we spent hours looking on the Internet for just the perfect place to spend some r&r... We came across the outstanding reviews and beautiful pictures and knew this was the place for us..From the time we arrived and Margaret greeted us and made us feel right at home...We stayed in the Lee Suite and it is more beautiful than we could ever imagine...We have tried so many B&B's over the years and this by far out ranks them all....I wish there were more than 5 stars because we would have ranked the chalet a 10 star. Every morning we were served a 3 course breakfast. I had to take a picture of each course because I knew it is would be something we will never see again...of course not until we return to the Chalet...My husband and I decided to have dinner at the Chalet our last night and it was by far better than we could have ever expected..
. We so enjoyed chatting with Margaret and Patty and listening about the history of the Chalet....My husband and I can not wait to return and next time we are going to try and spend a week....There is so much to do and Margaret and Patty were so helpful in suggesting places to go and visit...Honestly, if you book two nights you will regret you didn't stay longer.....Maraget and Patty thank you both for making our stay the best ever.....

Short review: Book this place. Book it now. Don't look anywhere else in the region. Pattie and Margaret are an absolute dream, and our every need - including some privacy and time to chill out - was anticipated and filled beyond expectation.
Longer review: My husband and I arrived at the Chalet exhausted after the drive from Boston where we'd just moved our eldest child into college. Emotionally and physically, we were wrecked. The owners, Margaret and Pattie, could tell immediately that we needed this place as a time of rest and rejuvenation. And boy did it fit the bill. There are three suites, all with private bath, and all look wonderful. We stayed in the balcony suite, and it was perfect. Every possible thing we could have wanted was there in our suite. The rest of the house is marvelous and very inviting, and the grounds and pond are gorgeous. Margaret and Pattie were right there with many helpful recommendations for dining and activities if and when we wanted them. The multi-course breakfasts, served on the expansive porch, are simply to die for, and were the best meals of our two-night, two-day stay in the Finger Lakes. The desserts served each night were also delicious.
On our last day, we had to leave very early, and Pattie and Margaret went out of their way to serve us breakfast much earlier than normal so that we wouldn't miss out on this special treat. I am so grateful for their incredibly warm and very genuine interest in us and their hospitality. When we left, we got big hugs from both of them, and it truly was like saying farewell to friends. My only regret is that we couldn't stay longer, and we are already looking forward to staying at the Chalet again.
