“Great little find”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 10, 2012

I typically go to Watkins Glen for the Vintage GP in Sept. and this year decided to stay in delightful Canandaigua - just an hour or so from "The Glen". This place reviewed well and very reasonably priced so gave it a try.

Points:
- not your average motel
- owner operated and it shows
- spacious and comfortable room
- room decorated nicely and any room with B&W pics of Stewart, Dietrich, and Hepburn can't be bad!
- good breakfast - not cooked and no cereals
- table and chairs outside room
- old and small TV but with extensive channels
- handy parking

Highly recommended.

My wife and I stayed at the Miami Motel for four nights in July while visiting family in the area. We found it on trip advisor and decided to try something different than the standard chains. We were both very pleasantly surprised. The owners were wonderful, and the rooms were clean, confortable and had a touch of the old motor in charm. The owners are continuing to work on the facility to restore it back to it's original charm. It was enjoyable talking to them and seeing some of the historic photos. The ultimate testimony for this establishment is the fact that we have booked to stay there again in Decmeber when we visit family again.

I stayed at the Miami Resort Motel over Labor Day for one night. I booked it solely on the advise of other Trip Advisors. The bed in room 4 was awesome, with 4 pillows and a comforter in a duvet. Several towels in the bathroom, also.
However, one wall was concrete block, there was no headboard, tv was small, tub drain was open (no plug), previous guest left a washcloth on the shower curtain rack which I discovered when I took a shower, no grab bar to enter or exit the tub, and there was rust under the tub and the tile (circa 1968) needed regrouting. The carpeting is industrial, and very thin. Room is small, but adequate.

That all being said, I would definitely stay there again, but you should realize it is not the spotless, homogenous Microtel experience.

A whole group of our friends stayed in the Miami Resort over this last Labor Day weekend (2012). All together… We had 5 rooms reserved, and actually another friend rented one of the rooms after we checked out. The rooms all have their individual character and many have a Jacuzzi tub right there in the room. It is truly a mom and pop establishment and they do a great job to make us feel at home. I would absolutely love to go back. I’m just not sure when we’ll make the 8 hour drive back to Canandaigua, NY! I highly recommend anyone give this a try. Super cool!

Room Tip: All of the rooms have different character. If you have the choice between rooms... ask them about t...

We haven't stayed in a motel in years, but we were in the area and there weren't many options. After reading reviews on Trip Advisor we gave it a shot. I am so glad we did. While the outside and the sign were definitely a bit concerning to us when we arrived (the owners explained they are renovating the whole place), the owners were the most friendly and the room we stayed in was absolutely perfect! The renovation is a huge success!

We had a one bedroom suite, both beds were very comfortable, and there was also a couch/day bed which was very convenient. They provide plenty of pillows and towels to make life very easy. The price was very reasonable and the room was meticulously cleaned. The bathroom was spotless as well as very modern and roomy. We also had a refrigerator, microwave, and kitchen sink next to the microwave. We planned on returning because we were so happy and we did about 4 weeks later! I will write a separate review for that stay.

One note: Please don't expect a chain hotel environment (i.e. Hilton, Marriott, etc.) as it is a local owner and NOT a chain. These owners are fantastic and they clearly do things their way which is one of the greatest things about this place. I am sure if you have a concern they will be more than willing to work with you to fix it if possible, which is something you rarely find in hotel chains that have policy and specific ways of operating.

just spent 3 nights in the king room, less the jacuzzi for $89. Very nice room, comfy bed, fridge, microwave. Nicely finished room. The folks running the motel are very friendly and will do anything to help, coffee/tea and bagels fruit are complementary in the morning.
They are fixing up the outside but the value is on the inside. The $89 rooms have their own carport while the $69 queen rooms are regular motel rooms, but still very nice. We will return.

Room Tip: Spend the extra $20 and get the king without the jacuzzi.

It was a pleasure to stay at the Miami Motel. It is like stepping back to an earlier time, yet with modern conveniences. Great mattress, beautiful retro black and white tiling in the bathroom, clean, nothing fancy - just neat. We were very comfortable and we appreciated how affordable it is to stay there. The owners are really nice. Keep up the good work, Valerie and Dennis! We'll be back!
