“Great Dining in Callicoon”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 21, 2014

Something that is not easy to come by. Even better, this place is OPEN YEAR ROUND. That's very hard to find in Sullivan County, and frustrating for those of us here more often than just summer.

Solid steaks, good, friendly service, strong drinks. Menu could maybe stand to be broadened somewhat.

Some of the negative reviews (all terribly misspelled) here are ridiculous. If you can't afford it, don't slam it. Walk down the street to get some pizza.

“good variety, but exspensive”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 5, 2014

For the area it is exspensive for the locals. Like my husband and I cannot afford to eat there. Byut we have a lot of out of towners that enjoy a higher priced atmosphere. This is for them.

“Old time dining in Upstate NY”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 11, 2013

The ambience and charm of the historic building is the first thing you see when you enter this restaurant, one of the best in the area. A frequent visitor over the years - I have a timeshare at the nearby Villa Roma Resort - I try to eat here once or twice during the year. I am never disappointed. From the beef to the fish entrees, they are usually perfectly cooked and served with nice sides. The portions are large but the food is so tasty you just want to gobble it all up. The only consistent problem I find is the dinner rolls are never warm enough. They have some good bread too, so its a shame they can't get that right. I have had the same servers over the years and I find them pleasant and very informed. You may even see them during the day working other jobs in some of the local antique shops and galleries on the main avenue. This is one of those places where you can dine, not feel rushed, enjoy a good meal and walk down the block and have some good wine and cheese at Robin's wine shop.

“LOTS OF ROOM FOR IMPROVEMENT”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed September 10, 2013

Average food, average cooking ability, high prices. Owner is the Chef. The hired help need some training from someone who knows how to trane. The portions of food will leave you hungry upon leaving. Expensive cocktails, expensive beer. Not impressed. Will not go back.

“Cool Small Restaurant”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 29, 2013

I have dined here once and it was good, not for a while, but once. I had Salad Capressie and Baby Back Ribs. Great Ribs! Cooked well and seasoned. No potato, no veggie. Maybe a small Cream Brulee for dessert. That was GREAT! Pricey, yes, a little. Gotta treat ones self from time to time. I did have Ribs at the Bluestone the same year in Hancock. These were better folks, fer sure! I LOVE Ribs! I would go back again. I have a friend that says "This is the best food anywhere"!
