“Rreally Rremarkable”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 18, 2013

In Danbury on business, went with a business colleague for dinner there, recommended by a client. Valentines' Day, packed, but they found a table for us. It was just terrific. Food was perfect -- plank-grilled red snapper was delicious, beet and ceasar salads were yummy, and Napoleon for dessert was inventive and great. Service was lovely, very knowledgable yet quietly efficient. Value was pretty good although we felt most wines by the bottle were overpriced. Otherwise, just a comfortably elegant dinner and atmosphere, the equal of anything you'd hope to find at a top-notch restaurant in a larger city.

“Wine by the Glass”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 15, 2013

It's hard to find any faults with this restaurant. The service was efficient and attentive. The food was excellent - the beet salad was delicious, as was a potato encrusted halibut special. My wife and I shared one dessert - which arrived on 2 separate plates - each large enough t qualify as a full (not 1/2) dessert. The wine by the glass was good - and the quantity was unbelievable - filled to the brim. The restaurant was packed - it was Valentines Day, a Thursday - but the food arrived with great timing. And each table had a beautiful long stem rose to take home. Overall, a truly great evening

“Good food - Small portions”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 9, 2013

Upscale Italian restaurant serving fresh pasta, chicken, veal and seafood dishes in a casual atmosphere. The food is excellent but the portions are small. If you like pasta then by all means try any one of their offerings, you will not be disappointed. Refined yet inattentive service, servers are well versed in the menu but spread way too thin for service appropriate for a restaurant of this caliber. We had to flag down the waiter several times for attention. I noticed that the busboy (about 15 y/o and reported to be the owners son) was continuously scanning the room and was very attentive. We spent about $100 for two drinks, a shared appetizer, two entrees and desserts.

“Horrible Service!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed January 25, 2013

This was our 5 th time to Rraci's restaurant in Brewster, NY. Our first experience when it first opened was excellent as was the 2nd and 3rd. When the 4th dinner was not so impressive due to lack of knowledge of staff as well as our basic needs met, and the food downgraded a few notches, we chalked it up to a "bad night in the restaurant business". Our 5th and FINAL experience was just that! It was horrible. When you make a simple request to change your table if one is available away from the direct line of cold air entering do to the front door opening and closing, and we are graciously moved by the manager on duty that evening to a table in a room past the bar area. Very nice, we thought, excellent. Well, we were wrong! The attitudes of the wait staff were unacceptable. From the fact one if out friends only drinks coffee black and had to re-order every single cup she received instead of the staff inquiring if she would like a refill? The annoyance on the faces of ALL servers was so apparent I was at the point of asking one of them why are they in the business of 'customer service' ? When the end of the meal came, we were with another couple, we decided to have the 'special dessert' of the day. Mind you, when the waiter rattled off the specials of the night while he was paying attention to everyone else in the restaurant, he did make a brief mention the particular dessert would be ordered now if wanted. Never reiterating that when we placed our orders as he should have asked, 'Would anyone care to order the 'special' dessert?' Well our friend wanted it, asked for it was flatly told no, because we should have paid attention and ordered it when placing our dinner order. We do not understand it takes 15 minutes to prepare. We said we have time to wait. The annoyance was so obvious in his attitude, he made us wait for our cappicuno's and other coffees until the dessert our friend ordered actually arrived. Mind you it was later in the night, restaurant still had plenty if tables visiting, winding down & all for of us at dinner that night work in customer service, not to mention 2 have owned their own very successful restaurant in Westchester and taught at the culinary years ago! When dessert came and finally our coffee, no refills were asked about as a matter of fact, the young busboy, water refill person was trying to remove our cups/ plates even before we had finished our coffee and dessert. Rraci's can be guaranteed the 4 of us will NEVER step foot into the establishment again and will make sure our many friends we have been there with in the past do not!

“Go early”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 19, 2012

This place is small, Brio for example, would seat four times the number of patrons as Rraci's that, however, is where any comparison stops.

When you think of R'raci's it's NYC first class, but in a smaller package here in Brewster. All pasta is home made Gnocchi,Ravioli get an A+. The Veal Chops and Filet Mignon is great but the portions are a bit small, as is the Crown of Lamb. When last I was served I believe it was offered as a special.

The drinks can really bring the the total tab up,and they too are small ,so you may want to stop off on the way home for your #2 or skip them for a less expensive pub.

The food is first class all the way,but I doubt you'll need a doggy-bag.
