Stayed at the Sagamore for a few days after Columbus Day. Got a special online price to stay at one of the Lodges of two nights stay for the price of one. We had a basement room, with an embankment view. I was nervous after reading some of the reviews, but was not disappointed. The pictures with this review will hopefully give people a better idea of what to expect with a Lodge room stay. Yes, we had a dehumidifer running in the room when we entered, but it was not in the least bit damp. You could hear the people upstairs, and the lodge room doors are noisy, opening and closing.
We ate in Mister Brown's Pub; food was good, large portions. This time of year, there are not many people at the hotel, except conference attendees. Many of the shops in Bolton Landing are closed, which we expected. Also, we had planned on going to the Algonquin for dinner one night, but it was closed; information I had found online indicated it closed October 31, so that was disappointing. We had a few drinks on the Veranda also, very relaxed, with a musical trio playing after 8 pm.
Overall, we did enjoy the few day get-away for our anniverary and some leaf peeping. I would visit the Sagamore again, but would probably stay in the hotel itself due to the noisiness of the Lodge rooms, although the prices, even without the online special, we felt were fair for the room.
