“Beautiful, friendly and first class!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 1, 2007

This one of a kind bed and breakfast is absolutely beautiful and the owners, Joe and Patti, are friendly, warm and outgoing. Everything from the bed to the quality of the towels and robes was first class. They really pay attention to the details. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and will definitely go back!!

This is an old home built right on the waters of Lake George. We stayed in the Ciara room – not large, but we were very comfortable. The accommodations range from delux to very luxurious.

Breakfast is prepared fresh each day by Patti, the innkeeper, and is served family style in the Great Room. The day we were there, we had a glass of freshly squeezed juice, cup of bananas in almond cream, baked French toast (cream cheese and fruits baked in), sausages, homemade plum granita, coffee cake and tea or coffee.

Patti and Joe are both very pleasant and helpful people.

Guests are offered (for a fee) a ride on the Lake in their 33’ Hackercraft sport boat – a real treat if the weather is warm.

Stayed there in Sept 2005 for 3 nights on our tour of New England/New York State

The owners Patti and Joe are down to earth and friendly people

The room we had was slightly small but well decorated and
peaceful

You have the freedom of the house and relaxing on the balcony
over lake george is fantastic or lounging in the gardens

They permit you entry to the Spa Hotel just up the road free of charge

There are plenty of small bars/shops and restaurants in walking distance in the tidy village of Bolton Landing

Breakfast is served at one time and gives you the opportunity to chat with fellow guests. We would def return again and stay if we are in the area again.

The Boathouse is located right on the water. There is the main building, the actual boathouse, and a newer house right behind.
For those who want air conditioning, request the newer house behind the actual boathouse accommodations.
I had a room with a small balconey in the original building and the breeze coming off the water and the ceiling fan were just fine for myself and my husband. There is a lovely balconey /porch over the water to sit out at night and a lovely garden/lawn area with tables, chairs and lounge chairs to get sun.
All in all, a lovely romantic getaway- a bit pricey, but worth it for a couple of nights. The breakfast is great and the owners are quite friendly as well.

  • Liked — The location directly on water
  • Disliked — No air conditioning in the rooms in the main boathouse

The Boathouse B&B is just that-- a beautiful boathouse directly on Lake George. For those not familiar with boathouses, they are essentially a garage for boats. This gorgeous boathouse was built as an estate and has second story living quarters. The house was built in the early 1900s by a famous speedboat racer as his residence. To say the views are breathtaking is not just a worn cliche: they truly are.

We stayed in their second building, the Carriage House Suites. This building is located just steps away from the main building and offers just as incredible of a view. Our room, "Mason's Adirondack Suite," is probably the most beautiful room we've ever stayed in.

The spacious room featured a peeled log king bed, a stone gas fireplace, a small kitchenette area with mini-fridge, sink and microwave and a gorgeous bathroom with jacuzzi tub. Co-owner Patty decorated the room in a style that was both comfortable and elegant. As many of the patrons are couples on romantic getaways, Patty and Joe (Patty's husband) have seen to the details. Candles for your use dot the room and Jacuzzi, and bath salts and lotions are thoughtfully provided. A radio/cd player is also available. It seems that most of your needs were anticipated from extra toothbrushes and toothpaste in the bathroom to the corkscrew in the kitchenette.

The grounds are beautifully landscaped with seating areas in every nook & cranny. Swimming access to the lake is provided by stone steps leading into the lake or ladders built into the docks surrounding the boathouse. A nice hot tub is located on one of the docks as are comfortable chairs and tables.

Guest have use of the "great room" where breakfast is also served. Games, books, newspapers and magazines are available. Just beyond the great rooms is the main covered porch. I could spend hours on this porch just watching the lake and enjoying the breeze.

The owners and staff were very pleasant and helpful. Restaurant recommendations were right on the mark. Breakfast was delicious and served promptly at 8:30 AM. Wireless internet access was also available in the main area.

One warning: we learned from other guests that the main house is not air-condtioned. There are ceiling fans and large windows to catch the lake breeze. The guests tole us that they were comfortable, but for those of us who like are bedrooms very cool, this may be a concern. My only complaint was the card in the bathroom asking us to reuse towels. I understand the environmental reasoning for the request, but for the price charged for these rooms, it seemed cheap and trite.

The Lake George Boathouse Bed and Breakfast is a beautiful and relaxing place to stay. It's prices would discourage us from returning frequently, but I'm sure we will return for a special weekend.
