“A worthwhile stop”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 4, 2013

We stopped here on our way home from a canoe trip, Our only mistake was not giving the place enough time, but the time we spent there was fascinating. Displays are well done and really bring home the history of the region

“Just lovely”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 1, 2013

Beautiful museum. So much to see and do - we were there for half a day, but could have been there all day (and kids wanted to come back next day, but sadly we couldn't). Fascinating displays, old buildings, activities. Kids could go on a boat and feed fish, play games, sports, etc, etc. Adults could see the displays and enjoy the buildings and views. We'll do it again when we return to the Adirondacks.

Spent an entire day touring this wonderful museum. Something for everyone to see and learn about the history of the Adirondacks. Would recommend this for families as well.

Great museum with exhibits for all ages-logging, great camps, trains, and the gilded age of Americans on vacation.

“Had low expectations and was very favorably impressed!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 26, 2013

I have traveled across the country and Europe. This is one of the best museums I have every visited. The electronic narrated museum tour was fantastic - a great amount of information without straying into the minutiae. Lots of interactive exhibits - use of iPads, the ability to climb on trains, touch animal pelts, etc. The size is impressive - 20+ acres. The location is dynamite - on the side of Blue Mountain overlooking Blue Lake. We visited for three hours and did not see all the exhibits. I will definitely return on my next visit to the area.
