While looking for a movie to see we stumbled across Wes Andersons "Moonrise Kingdom" playing at the Art Mission Theater after a search for local movies. We had never heard of the movie, nor the location but it sounded better than anything else playing at the big box theaters so we got directions and set off.
When we got there we found out they were sold out but the intimate gallery space, its the dead end location, and the small crowd that may have been hipsters if they were currently younger made us opt to do some shopping and return for the next show. Sadly they wouldn't sell tickets to the next show early so we made sure we were back with time to spare.
We did just that and after getting our tickets went into a cozy theater space with about 40 seats I would say. The space was a little awkward with the lights up being a little skewed but it wasn't the case when the lights were out as none of the odd angles were obvious.
The movie was great and it seems their standard fare is the arts movies and small independences which fit well into the space and its esthetics.
Was a great experience and we will be back.
