Having been to the Red Door Spa in the same shopping mall as Sage, my girlfriend noted that Sage Bistro looked interesting and yelped it and made a mental note to try it when we were back in the area. On our way home from some afternoon errands, we decided to stop and try it out. I'm not sure if it was the snow or the regular hours, but we arrived just as they opened on Sunday at four pm. I'm a sucker for a good martini so we decided to sit at the bar and enjoy a cocktail and a good conversation with Vinny our bartender. I started with a Belvedere martini while my special date tried one of the Signature martinis. Both were excellent and we decided on a follow-up to make sure we really liked them the first time around. Having not eaten here before, we decided to order several things from the small plates and appetizer menu. In addition to the tuna tar tar, we also tried the fish tacos and the calamari--- plus a very special shout out to the escargot! All of the food came out hot and was simply very, very good. During our meal at the bar, the restaurant began filling up and although we saw several young children, this bistro certainly has the ambience for a romantic evening. The bar area was well separated from the rest of the restaurant. The dining room was well decorated and the lighting was perfect for a great meal out. We felt that although the food was not inexpensive, it was worth the every bit for the service, ambience and overall food experience. Certainly, we will be patrons in the near future.
