“Great Food - a hidden gem in Beacon”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 31, 2012

My wife and I have eaten here multiple times & I must say that this place is truly one of the hidden gems in Beacon. The food is fresh and well prepared. Staff is professional and friendly. You can't go wrong with ordering any fish/pasta combination.

“Great ambience, great food!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 23, 2011

We had an excellent late dinner at Cafe Amarcord. We ate here after we attended the Jack O Lantern Blaze upon recommendation from Mr. Yuan Lee, owner of the Chrystie House. I'm puzzled by this restaurant's 5th place status, since we had a great meal! I had a special - NY strip steak with grilled asparagus and horseradish mashed potatoes. Delicious. Highly recommended!

“Good Italian”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 18, 2011

Delicious rabbit and very good veal pasta. Friendly wait staff. They also had Palm Beer, which is one of my favorites.

“Delicious and Chic for Beacon”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 18, 2011

I’d agree with Café Amarcord being described as a chic restaurant for Beacon. Very romantic – Tuscan, Italian feel. We’ve dined here several times, and been very satisfied each time. A seasonal menu changes based on availability. We've enjoyed lamb, gnocchi, potato leak soup, variety of salads and desserts (in fact we've gone for just cappuccino and dessert as well) For Beacon it’s a bit on the pricey side – but one of our favorites for those special occasions, or just a nice dinner.

“Unfulfilled Potential”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed September 21, 2011

We have been trying to like Amarcord for almost two years - the menu is satisfactory with some dishes that look downright interesting, but the kitchen almost always has difficulty timing a meal, and in some cases, preparing entrees to requested doneness. There always seems to be some kind of mistake.

During a recent weekday dinner, sides of roast potatoes and string beans arrived with a distinctly fishy flavor and smell; a steak arrived overcooked. A salad and and a sardine appetizer were fine.

Service is distinctly unprofessional - servers sometimes don't know what's in the dishes and occasionally have no clear idea of what's on the wine list. Bar service is spotty.

This is a place that you will really want to like, but it will be difficult. Satisfaction seems to occur on a random basis, so we've finally given up. Amarcord simply costs too much to keep trying.
