We went up to the Finger Lakes this past weekend and booked our rooms with Microtel. We got there a bit earlier on Friday afternoon than the check in time but that didn't matter. We were able to get in early. I did notice the smell of cigarette smoke on the third floor but I"m not sure why it was there since all the rooms are non-smoking. The room was on the smaller side but it was more than adequate for us. When my husband and I travel, the room is mostly for sleeping and we spend the rest of the day out sightseeing. It was clean.
I did notice the water was slightly brown the first day I was there. I know that has been mentioned in other reviews but it didn't bother me so much. I've lived in older homes where the pipes were rusty. It was the hot water only but I ran it for a few minutes and it came out clear. There was no issue with the cold water.
The employees were friendly and very unobtrusive. If you have a question, they are more than happy to point you in the right direction. The continental breakfast was the same typical fare you get in most hotels like that: cereal, yogurt, bagels, english muffins, toast, muffins, coffee, tea and juice. It wasn't bad but there was limited seating near the breakfast area.
All in all, we would definitely stay there again. It was a good starting point for what we did near Keuka and Seneca Lakes.
