“A nice little get away with children”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 27, 2012

We chose this hotel this time because we were bringing our 4 yr old son. They have a indoor water park. Its not huge but the perfect size for him. The have a play area with differnt things for the little ones slides, There is a pretty big hot tub...and a good size pool with a basketball hoop. The rooms were clean, the staff seemed friendly. The only thing that was negative for me was the price was a littel high i thought for the waterpark $15 a person. Ive been to amusment parks that charge about that price and you get alot more. They def need to lower that price. But i guess they can charge it seeign there arent any other hotels around that offer an indoor waterpark. But for the size of it it should def be cheaper. Especially when you are payign to stay there. We payed about 160 for the 3 of us.That included a 2 day water park pass. But we only used the first night there. The breakfast was pretty good. It was buffett style with the basic choices. Was nice to have a hot breakfast. I would stay here again it is a very convienient location.Right next door to Target. Other shopping close very close to Batavia Downes.

We live less than an hour from the hotel/waterpark and thought that it would be a fun overnight since the weekend weather was so lousy. Check in was quick but the gentleman that was at the counter was less than friendly, he seemed quite annoyed that he had to deal with us. The room was clean, quiet and there were no offensive odors. The beds were very hard and uncomfortable. The waterpark was the big disappointment.

Room Tip: If you don't want noise, don't get a room around the pool.

We were excited to take the only day off we had as a family during Easter Break to go to the waterpark. It took over 20 minutes for us to check in and no one really greated us, no one told us where the waterpark was or anything. We were told to ensure we had our wrist bands and that was it. I will say that the size of the park is great for younger kids. My kids enjoyed the offerings at the waterpark, it wasn't too big that I had to worry about losing them in the crowds. There are two slides and a sauna that is always packed and the small indoor pool barely had room for anyone else. We did notice there seemed to be not enough lifeguards. The kids wading pool slash small slides had one lifeguard on one side that couldn't even see where the kids came down on the other. It may have said one kid at a time down the slide, but the kids were going at the same time and knocking some of the little ones over. I stayed with my child the whole time, but many people don't. Parents were around the area reading books and not watching their kids... There should have at least been a lifeguard on each side
As for our room, if you stay more than one night, I suggest the "suite" room for $20 more, it has a couch that pulls out to a bed and was a nice size. Just watch for cleanliness, there was hair in the tub and we had to have one beds sheets changed because it wasn't clean.
I did receive a $25 breakfast voucher as part of the package, but I suggest ordering off the menu, the buffet food was cold even when they just brought it from the kitchen.
There seemed to be little padding between floors, I thought there was a herd of elephants above us well into the night.

Room Tip: I wouldn't book near the waterpark, the smell was very high and noise levels seemed loud. The s...

There are too many issues to list. Front desk was rude, and the manager pretended to care, but offered nothing in return for the many problems I encountered.

Room Tip: There are much better and newer places nearby to stay at.

All I can say is that I'm glad that I was not paying for the room, and I feel badly that the entity that did pay for it will probably never know that this place is truly not a place to put up an out-of-town guest because I am too polite to tell them that. The room itself was okay. The hotel is very worn and dingy. The elevator lobbies have furniture that looks like they were dragged off the street. The corridors smell like smoke, probably because the rooms are situated so that smoking and non-smoking rooms are on the same hallways. The real clincher that this was not a place I'd ever come back to was that the last night of our 3-night stay we came back to the room around 11pm to find that directly across the hallways was one of their community rooms with a raging party in full swing, doors wide open so you could see the lineup of liquor, and people in the hallway who were more than slightly drunk and way more than slightly loud. We called the front desk to ask when might this affair be ending, and... they laughed at us! And then said they had no idea. What kind of place books guests in rooms so close to their party rooms? We requested a room change, which we got, but the inconvenience of having to pack quickly since we'd been there for two days was a little annoying. Plus the AC was really loud and you could not open the windows. We were glad to check out. Never coming back. Ever.

If your going here for the "waterpark", think again. We had a group of 10-11 yr. olds. There are 2 slides for them, the rest of the place is built for a 4 yr. old age group. If you go for a day pass it is $28 plus tax and if you just want to go in and watch your kids, guess what? It is $28 plus tax. What a joke. I asked for some sort of discount since I was not even putting on a suit, but nope $28 plus tax and we spent about 2 hrs. in there since it is SO small. On to the hotel. Bathrooms are so old and so small you can't even fit 2 people in them. The beds are very uncomfortable. The tv didn't work and we had to pull it out and plug it in ourselves. You get a $25 breakfast voucher and for breakfast being the cheapest meal of the day, we still had to pay another $27 for our family of 4 to eat. The workers in the restaurant looked like they just came in from changing oil in their cars - dirty clothes, etc and the restaurant was not the cleanliest thing around. Not worth the food we ate! Make the trip couple hours further to Splash Lagoon to get your money worth.

Thank you for your comments from your recent stay with us. The Waterpark is 12,000 square feet, has the 2-24’ fully enclosed body slides, an underwater lighted pool with a regulation size basketball hoop and waterfall, an oversized underwater lit hot tub, and a childrens play area with beach entry, racer slides, hand jets, rope pull showers, 5 way tipping bucket, and the arcade has over 15 brand new video games including a photo booth. There are lots of fun things to do for all ages and we are sold out almost every weekend.

On sold out days, we are unable to offer just day passes to the park. This is out of respect to our overnight guests and to ensure occupancy levels are not exceeded. The $28 price is a pass for two days and includes tax, making the price daily only $13 each. Our beds were all replaced last year with brand new, brand name, pillow top mattresses. We are glad to hear that you were able to get the television to work by plugging it in, sometimes the plugs get bumped when the housekeepers are cleaning behind the dressers. The $25 breakfast voucher is complimentary and if menu items are chosen that exceed that amount, the remaining amount is the responsibility of the guest.

The Waterpark overnight room package was built to give families the most value for their money. The package rate starts at $145 and that includes the overnight room (regularly priced $99-$119), four passes to the waterpark for two days ($120 park admission), $25 breakfast voucher, and a $25 free play to Batavia Downs. Total value of the package is approximately $269, that’s a $124 savings!!!

Back from a 2 day stay at the Batavia Clarion Hotel. We are a family of 2 Adults,4 kids, 3 kids range from 14yrs old to 17 yrs old. We are a very traveling Vacation Family, we are very knowledgeable family , when it comes to Hospitality Amenities . You can say, a little spoiled from all the travels. I will try not to sound negative, like everyone in this review page. Because We feel that reviews should be use for improvement & training, not punishment. Here are you Pros and Cons. Pros: 1. Great Maintenance Engineer , especially Richard, he saved our Family nights, he went out of his way to make sure our teenagers had a game console TV. Our 1st TV was an outdated old TV. 1. Cons rooms no WiFi ready, no connection ready for all game consoles. 2. Pros, very friendly house keeping department, they went out of their way to meet our needs. 2.Cons, Understaffed house keeping department for a sold out weekend , poor girls where overworked, if you have an overworked staff, you will have many negative complains. 3. Pros ,Good Front End amenities $25 casino per day, $25 breakfast per day, Buy 1 get one drink at the bar.Appetizer free with a Entree. 3. Cons, Not so friendly Front End, no smiles, looked not happy with their work, understaffed Front End, not attentive to the needs of the checking guest, supervisor sitting in the back instead of helping the staff make an sold out checking in run smoother. Front End not paying attention to the weather and no salting the entrance enough, fire place would have been nice if it would have been on. 4. Pros, Sunday Breakfast Buffet wonderful, plenty of food to keep everyone happy, Emma was a wonderful Hostess /Attendant, Brian the omelet/waffle station chef great attitude and friendly guy.. 4 Cons Again understaffed kitchen staff, Dinner to long of a wait, cold/overcooked food. Restaurant outdated seats and decor. So here is our advice to meet everyone's needs and have a very long profitable business. Better staffing for all your departments when sold out hotel. Retrained your Front End on Hospitality Job descriptions,All around from the General Manager to the Front Clerk. Keep renovating hotel, because it needs it, especially if you are trying to cater to families with all age range kids. (example: WIFI , TV A/V in all rooms, Steam clean rooms shades/curtains, new weather resistant rugs, because of the Wet guest walking around. Update A/C, Heating system. Game Room out of the Water park Area, so it can be use , when water park closes at night. More money is to be made in Game room, very bad inconvenience because it can't be use after closing water park hrs, especially older teens. Thank you to your understaffed employees , that went out of their way to meet our needs and all your guest. To owner Chan Patel: keep Investing money on renovations and upgrades and staff hiring and training and your hotel in Batavia, NY, could be a gold mine. Don't loose your guests to other Upstate NY indoor water parks. Good Luck. See you in our next family vacation.

Room Tip: no first floor rooms to much traffic and do not be afraid to ask, you will be helped.
