Although I am unfortunately not a seasoned, well-heeled world traveler, I can't imagine there could be a more top-flight bed and breakfast in existence than the Ecce establishment I was lucky enough to stay at for a much-too brief mid-week vacation. My wife and I customarily bring with us a car full of necessary items which are not generally available at such venues, but they remained in the trunk, as Ecce B&B sees to everything. Included in the nightly room rates are early eve cocktails (no limits it appeared, and included a well-stocked liqueur cabinet for the ending of the day), accompanied by some of the most imaginative hors d'oeuvres one will find on any restaurant's menu, each night served by our host, Alan (who has as much character and charm and likeability as anyone I have ever met). I am a bit of a classic games fancier, and Alan had on hand a closet full of classic and novel board/card games, in addition to CD's, DVD's, VHS tapes which could be taken to one's room and enjoyed on modern AV equipment. Our rooms were replenished daily w/ snacks, beverage in the fridge, and even different (quality) chocolates atop our pillows each night. When one wants to relax and lounge about, one could not find a more pristine and breathtaking setting to rest one's bones, w/ tiered perches around the B&B (chaise, hammocks, or benches) overlooking rocky chasms leading to the Delaware and the mountains hugging her. Little treats for the sensibilities a bound, w/ unusual birdlife flitting very close to the deck where we convened each morning and eve to socialize. Alan made sure that all of his guests did not feel left out during the awarding of the "prizes" which he promised for all who elected to take the scavenger hunt challenge, which was certainly no mickey mouse example. I could go on and on, but must make particular mention of the breakfast offerings. If you enjoy that first meal of the day, this is the place for you to come. Baked omelets extraordinaire....need I say more. No lack of delightful lunch and dinner places nearby, and the host was spot on in recommending the right ones that seemed to satisfy everyone in our family party, it seems. Ecce B&B was a little chunk of nirvana that was not that bad a drive from central NJ. I want to go back again, hopefully with the wonderful company of extended family who accompanied me this trip.
