We had a night at Hartwell house for a birthday treat. Instead of dinner in the evening, we had Sunday lunch which was excellent. The portions were ample as well, not 'nouvelle cuisine' portions.
We had a lovely room overlooking the roof terrace. The hotel was busy, but the service was good.
The only blight on the stay was breakfast. In the past, the cooked breakfast was fresh, but this time it was 'buffet style', the food being kept warm on hot plates. This is what one expects in budget hotels, not somewhere like Hartwell House. I hope this was just because the hotel was particularly busy. It was a shame.
