We stayed at Sandibe at the start of our honeymoon in September for 3 nights, and it was the best out of all of the 4 lodges we stayed in. The staff were fabulous (we really loved Judi), the food absolutely fantastic (we still dream of their home-made breads), the setting perfect. The cabins are not too far spread out but you still have privacy if you want to sit on your private terrace in your gown. The trackers and guides were fantastic, very knowledgable and were able to find us whatever we wanted to see. Leopards, lions, lioness, young lions, hyena, buffalo, cheetah, elephants, etc.

One evening, after returning from our evening game drive, they had told us that monkeys had gotten into our cabin and they were cleaning it up for us, and they would let us go back to the cabin in a moment. We were really afraid as it was just the start of our trip, thinking how they got in and if we did actually forget to lock the door when we left in the morning. As we were led to our cabin and opened the door, the staff had set up a private table in the room, lined the entire cabin with leaves and candles, and let us have private dining in our cabin as a special treat for our honeymoon. They even gave a free bottle of wine to us!

We cannot recommend this camp enough, it really is fantastic in every way.

We stayed her in September on the first leg of our Botswana safari, we have stayed in CC Africa lodges in Tanzania and loved them. We were not disappointed by Sandibe, the warm welcome instantly revived us after our long flight and we knew we were would be well looked after. The food is superb, the knowledge and tracking skills of the guides really amazing. I cannot recommend this place enough, you just feel like you are being welcomed into a family, the staff sing in the evening and it is so obvious that they really enjoy it, just lovely, On our second night on return from our game drive we were having drinks and chatting with other guests when they asked us to go with them back to our room as the housekeeper said monkeys had been in and they wanted us to check everything was OK, when we arrived at our room we found a table laid for a romantic dinner for us - it was gorgeous! It wasn't either of our birthdays or anniversary, they just did it as a surprise!
We would go back anytime, the scenery and wildlife around the Delta are fantastic.

Another well well run lodge by CC Africa.

The huts were comfortable but the hot water didn't work in the one shared by my wife and daughter. Mine did so I became quite popular.

The wild game is at your door step. My wife and daughter claim... to have gotten corned by a bull elephant that seems to make himself at home in the camp. Only thing is, they didn't know that and will likely be going on for years about their encounter... pilgrims!

Fast, long IS lenses I spoke of in the Nxabega review were a must.

In its ongoing effort to reduce the impact of humans on animals, CC Africa has begun using red filters on its search lights used on the night runs. See the photos...

“Absolutely Perfect”

We pulled into a clearing surrounded by trees. We didn't even know we had arrived until we heard the sound of african drums - the camp was so well hidden. We were greeted by Joyce who took us to the comfortable seating area and gave us all cool drinks before filling us in on camp life and rules. We were then shown to our fabulous thatched huts which had a huge bed covered by mosquito nets, twin sinks and a very refreshing outdoor shower. The first half hour at Sandibe was a sign of the amazing things to come.

Each morning you are awaken at 6am by the sound of African drums. Breakfast is at 6.30 and your safari guide and spotter often come and sit with you and talk about the things you might see that morning. All the food is freshly prepared and whilst not fine dining, it is, in the words of Gordon Ramsay - good wholesome food - freshly baked muffins were a real feature of breakfast as was museli with yoghurt and honey. The safari jeeps are comfortable and blankets are provided - you will need those and a couple of fleeces if you go during the African winter as it can get very chilly! There's usually only 4 - 6 people in each jeep which is great. Our guide/driver was Sage and our spotter was KB - they both had amazing knowledge about all of the different wildlife and flora/fauna we saw. They were extremely friendly and enthusiastic and made the drives a real pleasure - even if we didn't see anything particularly great for an hour or so.

Halfway through the safari you stop for a morning drink and chance to stratch your legs. Out comes this table and every kind of beverage you can imagine as well as biscuits. If you need to use the bathroom, Sage is very good at finding a secluded spot where there are no lions!

After the morning safari it's back to camp for a hearty lunch - you'll never be hungry at this camp! You can then spend your day around the plunge pool if you like or even sleeping. At 4pm it's tea time - cakes and muffins, breads and cold meats, before embarking on the evening safari. This was my favourite part since you stop for sundowners halfway through and out comes the table again - a cheeky G&T is good to perk you up. About 7pm you head back to camp and if you look upwards the sky is amazing - covered in stars and very beautiful.

On return to camp it's drinks by the log fire with the other guests - the staff may even sing and dance for you. After that it's dinner by the roaring boma - again, fantastic food - kudu (like venison), butternut squash and sweet potato and also endless wine.

Aside from the camp itself Botswana is amazing - so so beautiful and the landscape will blow you away even if you don't see as many game as you might do in South Africa.

I would highly recommend Botswana as a destination and Sandibe really could not be any better. Unlike some other places I've visited all the staff seem really happy to be working there and seem to be paid a proper wage so they can actually enjoy life a little more.

Arrived by way of a light aircraft to the landing strip at Sandibe, to be met by Batswalawang or BT for short! The drive to the camp included our first sighting of big cats - 2 male lions! The camp is luxurious with a plunge pool and wildlife through the camp. The rooms are wonderful with everything you could want (not the internet or such things) for a safari including an outdoor shower. The deal is all inclusive which is just what you want after a 'hard' day's drive looking for animals/birds. A lioness and 2 cubs, a leopard in a tree, and so very much more. On new year's eve, my B'day, the staff sang a local B'day song, got me up to join them to dance and gave me a woven bracelet with my name in. Sitting out under the clear sky and millions of stars what a way to celebrate. Please go you won't be disappointed.
