“Wonderful”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 23, 2013

We stayed here on the 17th and 20th october 2013. We were greeted at the airport by Rine, lovely friendly guy. Our tent was fantastic, very comfortable beds with mosquito nets, ensuite with shower. Lovely walk along the river which runs behind the property. We had an evening meal on both days, fantastic meals with wonderful company. Rine and Michele organised a scenic flight for us, nothing was to much trouble. Breakfast is served at your tent which was lovely to sit outside in the sunshine watching the birds. good luck to both guys, I am sure that they will reap the rewards of a successful business as this camp is an excellent place to stay. Thank you guys for a wonderful stay. Tina and Paul (uk)

From arrival to departure, Michel & Rene could not have been more welcoming, helpful and friendly, without being obtrusive. The 4 tents have really comfortable beds, mosquito nets and every comfort one can expect in a well appointed hotel room set in lovely surroundings. The evening meals were varied and delicious and having the great company of the hosts, made for a thoroughly enjoyable experience. Breakfast brought to the tent made us feel pampered. The hosts work really hard to ensure guests have a relaxing and satisfying stay and will we're sure succeed in their endeavours. Thank you guys and good luck for the future. Glen & Malcolm Stringer (U.K.)

Room Tip: All 4 tents are of an equal standard and placed with sufficient space between them to make for a fee...

As others have said, this is a lovely tented camp well located near Maun. With 4 spacious and spotlessly clean tents, spaced well apart from each other, the camp is good alternative to B&Bs or hotels in the area. Each tent has a large king size bed, good lighting, a power source for charging phone and camera batteries and ours had a fabulous full bathroom with a wonderful shower. Despite the heat, our tent was well ventilated and after sitting on the porch enjoying the evening, we found it cool and breezy inside. Michel and Rene built the camp themselves and their attention to detail, cleanliness and numerous small touches made the whole experience out of the ordinary. Breakfast came to us in a picnic basket to our own outside table. We weren't lucky enough to see aardwolf or honey badger but we caught sight of numerous other animals. My son and I spent a brilliant couple of hours on the river in Tshima's canoe. We had two nights at Tshima and can highly recommend it.

Room Tip: Ask for one of the luxury tents and try to get out on the river in the canoe.

If you want to avoid the huzzbuzz of Maun, this is an excellent choice. Located just a short drive out of the city, this fairly new lodge, run by two expats from Holland (who basically built everything themselves) is small (only 4-5 luxury tents, if I recall correctly), quiet and personal. The tents are clean, fully equipped (mosquito nets, tea cooking facilities, plugs etc.), spacious and have their own bathroom. Water and electricity are solar-powered. Riny (I might be misspelling the name) is an excellent cook: we were 4 guests (two couples) and we ate together with the owners a full 3-course menu of the highest quality. The sumptuous breakfast (bread, butter, tea/coffe, eggs, jam&cheese, marmelade, honey, fruit etc.) is served right at your tent in a cute retro-style safari picknick suitcase.
One of our best accomodations in our 7 weeks in Africa. The only thing is: they like their guests to give them a bit of advance notice, so spontaneously popping by might be difficult - try to pre-book.

Very nice, modern and stylish place, where you can feel totally private.
Detailed perfection, everything just works and is thought about.
5 star dinners, hosts really did their best to put something special on the table.

We stayed in Thsima Bush Camp after our stay in Moremi and it was lovely! It is only a few km's outside Maun, which is quite crowded, so we were very glad we came across this place and didn't book a hotel or lodge in Maun.
For us it was 1 night in luxery after some days in the bush. The tents are nice and well decorated. You can see the owners have put in a lot of effort.
There are only 4 tents available, so it never gets crowded + you still have enough privacy.
If you want you can have diner at the Bush Camp (if you book in advance). The diner was excellent and Riny and Michel are good hosts.
For the persons interested in walking: there are some possibilities, for instance to the river, lying just behind the camp.

tshima bush camp is a fairly new place just outside maun (30km from center of town) situated on the edge of a village called "komana"

we stayed there in march with our parrents and really liked it here, we were well taken care of by the hosts rini and michel.
its really a nice bushy place and quite close to the river which is very nice for walking birdwatching and sundowners

the accomodation is luxury tents which blend in nicely with the surounding bush
the tents are also a good distance away from one another
so you do have quite a bit of privacy
they also did dinner for us which was excellend, but they do prefer you to book it in advance

all in all: a very nice, well kept place just outside maun
ideal for when you are comming or going to namibia/ windhoek or shakawe
