“Disappointing”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 19, 2013

Our 2 night's did not warrant the expense. Meals were very disappointing , limited choice and NO choice for dessert (not even ice cream was available). Picnic was basic. However location is outstanding, room is exceptionally well appointed although we had little time to enjoy it as we arrived late on the first day and left early on the third.

Ngoma is unlike some of the other safari experiences we have been on - it is truly a departure from reality and a spa like retreat, that just so happens to have wild animals nearby. We loved staying at this lodge and enjoyed the rustic-elegance of it. I couldnt believe that after turning off a dirt road, this lodge emerged out of nowhere! The staff were lovely and we have a special shout-out to Syaneck - he was a wonderful host and guide and the pride that he has for the lodge is second to none. Nothing was too much for him. We really loved getting to experience the safari on water and not on a vehicle as it showed a different perspective of the animals.

Our greetings to you in Chicago
Many thanks for your glowing 5-star review of Ngoma - we're very proud that out of 31 Trip Advisor reviews so far 30 have been 4 and 5 star, indicating that our array of international guests have loved the safari experience with us.

Yes, Synack and the whole team really do exude a great pride and they are all thrilled with their accolade. I'm glad you mentioned the different perspective of the water experience - seeing the wildlife from a boat is really special and unique to so few safari locations.

We hope that one day you will return and that you will choose the dry season (June-November) as it is then that the greatest wildlife show on earth unfolds as the animals all return to the river as their lifeline.

A 45 minute drive from Kisane on a good tar road takes you to this excellent lodge overlooking the Chobe River. The views from the individual rooms and the main lodge are superb. Our room (no. 8) was the furthest from the main house – however we had the added advantage of views over the slopes to the east. The lodge is about two years old and the rooms are extremely attractive – exposed thatch, netted beds, air-conditioning and a superb bathroom area. Meals and service are of the highest standard. There is wi-fi internet in the main building and a good mobile phone signal.

Hello Ascot
Your very generous review is greatly appreciated and keeps our five-star reputation flying high! Ngoma is set to get even better as we shall soon be upgrading all outdoor areas of the eight lodges and adding individual refresh pools.

Fantastic and excellent location. Very personalised service and not crowded with tourist. You could see Elephant, zebra, baboons and etc from your bed. We even bump into elephant right in front of our lodge.

Bevan our Guide has made us seen all big 5 on our first day!

Hello Lisa in faraway Malaysia
Thank you for visiting us in the remote wilds of our glorious African paradise! Your enthusiasm for our lodge, its location and the warm, friendly staff is really appreciated. It paints a vivid picture for potential guests when you say you could see elephants 'from your bed" - wow, that's unique!

You say you "bumped" into an elephant outside your lodge....I hope you don't mean literally! What a great surprise and something to talk about for years to come.

With thanks

The service from everybody at Ngoma was outstanding from the moment we arrived to the moment we sadly left. Doreen made the first night of our honeymoon stay one we will never forget with a special romantic dinner & some lovely personal touches. An amazing location, the luxurious lodges have great views overlooking the river and waterhole and the food was amazing. We had Shumi as our guide and were lucky enough to have him to ourselves throughout our stay, he is very knowledgable and ensured we had an experience that will stay with us forever, including lion porno! Good daily choice of safari options or relaxation if that's your thing. All we can say is thank you!

Dear Louise
When a honeymoon couple is ecstatic about our luxury eight-suite lodge and their wildlife experiences then that is a massive endorsement, for which we thank you. Shumi is indeed a guide who is constantly highly-rated by our guests and that amazing food is produced by our chef Paddington.

Wishing you every success in your life ahead

Great place to see Africa. Wonderful staff and guides provide a terrific time at chobe national park... If you have a choice of facility choose this brand new property erected in 2011. We came in the dry season in September and the animals were easily seen..and it was not busy..

Hello to you in SanFran USA
Our entire staff is beaming with pride after your very generous review - our 10th successive full-house of Five Stars from our guests. We're all determined to keep that up and not let those stars slip!

Yes, September is the most special and spectacular month of all to view the wildlife and the experiences definitely rate among the very best on the entire planet at this time. We're thrilled that such awe-inspiring experiences were complemented by our "wonderful staff and guides."

Excellent location on ridge looking down over river - we could see Elephant, Zebra etc on the banks of the Chobe from our bed! The rooms are very well appointed. comfortable and warm and the main central parts of the lodge were well designed in natural wood and stone. Food very good. Our hosts Doreen and Gert could not have been more hospitable offering an extremely personalised service cramming a very full itinerary of afternoon game drive, full day game drive/boat trip, night game drive and morning walking safari into our less than 2 days there. Doreen 'made' us go on the night drive even though we were exhausted and we were very glad we did with fabulous close encounters with a family of Elephants crossing the river - and Doreen was thoughtful enough to put in blankets etc to keep us warm. Game viewing in Chobe was excellent with huge numbers of Elephant and 2 large prides of Lion plus more local specialities such as Lechwe and Sable Antelope.

Only downsides were the surroundings of the lodge have been decimated by Elephants (which we understood so not a problem but others might not) so not as attractive as it might be (probably better in wet season). Also I understand the Doreen and Gert are moving to a lodge in Kenya so future standards will depend on the new management.

Room Tip: All rooms same with same view and you are escorted after dark so no need to worry about location

Hello Derek in Dubai
Our entire team at Ngoma is thrilled to receive your very generous 5 Star review; we thank you most sincerely and happily! Yes, August-November are very dry times when the bush seems to be dead, but when the rains arrive mid November it is astonishing how quickly it all revives and the greenery returns. However, Aug-Sep are marvellous game viewing months as you surely experienced from our supreme location -"huge numbers of elephants and two large prides of lions" as you wrote. Nothing like it on earth!

Thanks for choosing to stay with us
