“Excellent choice for budget travellers”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 17, 2010

After doing a 3 day Kruger safari tour in December 2008 which we thought was amazing... loved Timbavati, saw the big 5, loved the sites we stopped off at en route like God's Window and The Three Rondavels, we decided to book ourselves on another tour last year. In September 2009 we did the 5 day Johannesburg to Victoria Falls tours which was equally impressive. Yeah the first day was heck of a long day - getting from Jo'berg to our lodgings in Botswana was one mean drive but we met some amazing people on our tour and were amazed by Zimbabwe. If you do get as far as Victoria Falls the 1-day white water rafting adventure is a must!

“Great service for budget travelers - but be prepared”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 31, 2010

Traveled with LT over Christmas 2009. Family of two adults and one eleven year old daughter travelling to Chobe/Vic Falls, then another leg to Kruger. The distances we covered were quite large, requiring long drives and early mornings, but it was helped greatly by having good people looking after us .

We would like in particular to thank Andre who we travelled with the most and who had to get us to put up and pack up our tents and the camp sites. He was always very pleasant and patient, knowledgable and enjoyable company. Also an honourable mention for Dion and Elson - we only had them for the briefer Kruger leg, but again they were v. informative and great in terms of knowing about the animals, and how to spot them. Good company.
And the trip itself was great - we had a limited time and budget and it met our expectations very well. Over eleven days we camped where the elephants roamed, saw lion and leopard, rhino and calf, canoed with hippos and crocs (at a safe distance of course), had a great time at Vic Falls...all-in-all, the itinerary was accurate. Our eleven year old daughter came with us and also thoroughly enjoyed herself - despite early starts and long distances.
But - taking into account earlier blogs - you have to be prepared and flexible. Visas: check it all out yourself - your responsibility. Yes, some of the equipment was elderly, but (for us anyway) all quite serviceable. We had to do a few running repairs, but all part of the adventure. And yes the right guide does make all the difference. Possibly we were lucky, as all our guides were great.- bar one driver, which we have discussed with LT separately.

In our case everythying went to plan and we would recommend Livingston Tours for a budget option.

“good trip for the money”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 24, 2009

I booked the trip with livingstone trail before read some negative feedback, I was worried about my choose, but the reality is different, maybe l.t. is not the best tour operator, some things should be better, for example the sleepingbags not clean, they don't answer a some e-mail, but at the least the trip is beautiful, no frills, ok, but we are in africa on a budget tour, and my trip was good, I liked the timbavati lodge, and the driver on the part of tour in okawango delta e vic falls David was kindly and friendly, we had good food and disponibility. we are a mature couple, not young, but we were wery well.

“Thank you Andre for a great trip 12th September 2009”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 24, 2009

Congratulations Livingstone Trails for DELIVERING such a wonderful Safari..left on 12th September 2009 12 DAY TRIP guided by KING Andre du Toit visiting the Okavango Delta - great sites and lots of water and game and adventure with game walks ... Chobe 2 Game drives very helpful guides ... Victoria Falls Zambezi River ..Canoeing.. arts and crafts .. bring clothes to barter with as the residents have very few clothes ..

Andre was great - in driving - in knowledge and in cooking.. AS TRAVELLERS backpackers with safari experience and WHO are over 62 years and have been on many safaris in Africa as can be seen website www.kentsfinest.co.uk... As clients some are unsure of what to expect from Livingstone Trails having read the terrible reports.. wife has a leg disability and they took this on board... Andre was caring and always helpful..the game viewing and sites visited were fantastic with one exception Delta Rain .. the owner Graeme has no customer care ..he is only interested in PAULA/ Rand or Dollars and his staff cannot cook.. would have much preffered a meal cooked by Andre, this is not possible due to Botswana Meat Control.. but the Polers and guide for the Delta were fantastic and very knowledgeable and gave full support for photographic work..also the guide at Chobe Game drive was great and saw everything .. great viewing and photographs... Victoria Falls was very interesting and exciting particularly for in the afternoon guided Canoe ride on the Zambezi and experience shall never forget..

Andre had to stick to schedule to meet border requirements ..early morning wake up calls easily understood..upgrade facilities were excellent and all the camp sites chosen have great facilities..better than Kenya or Tanganyika... only use budget travel and recognise that in most cases 5 star accommodation is not available .. BUT THIS TOUR WAS GREAT and thoroughly enjoyable..

Thank you Andre ..thank you Livingstone Trails .. highly recommend this trip..but think backpackers and not luxury lodges and camping eg. no fridge in the Delta..and enjoy the ambiance of the country you are visiting and enjoy the wild life ..it is always luck to see.. but as I said to many on this trip ..wild life is not predictable and you cannot treat them as household pets.. don't shout don't try to pat them..respect them it is there country , they will come to you if you respect this..

THANK YOU LIVINGSTONE TRAILS AND ANDRE DU TOIT

“Great value for money”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 6, 2009

We have just returned from a 16 day tour with Livingstone trails, visiting Okavango delta, Chobe N.P,Vic falls and Kruger N.P.
I very nearly didn't book this tour after reading the reviews on this website.

Nicky Human from wwwafricanoverlandtours.com was fantastic and after some enquiries we decided to go ahead.

David was our guide. He drove long hours, cooked the meals and helped everybody with their needs and whims, nothing was too much trouble for him.
The fellow travellers were all nice and easy going.(no whingers).
Livingstone trails delivered what that was promised on the itinary, everything ran on time and was efficent.

The guide for Kruger N.P was Deon. We also had a new group of passengers, i couldn't believe they were really nice as well!
Deon was the most amazing spotter, we saw the big 5 before lunch on the first day.

My partner and i had a fantastic time and couldn't ask for more.
I reccomend Livingstone trails for open minded, easy going travellers. Not for people wanting a champagne lifestyle on a beer budget. How else can you see these amazing destinations for this price?
