Dear Lainy & Stanley & the whole W-S-team!!!

from the very first moment whan we arrivied we felt that very warm welcome from the whole team. The service and atmosphere which Lainy & Stanley (the owner) providing is amazing. You feel being at home but with the service of a 5 star guesthouse!!! Our room (the panorama / honeymoon suite) is so beautiful and superb arranged. Breakfast in the morning and homemade cakes every afternoon on the terasse close to sea gives you the feeling: that must be heaven on earth. THANK YOU - we are counting days to see you again! Big hugs O&K

Room Tip: Suite Nr.01 - The most beautiful place at walker bay!!!!

"There you are, welcome back. Bubbly or white wine?"
It doesn't only sound as if you're visiting friends, it definitely feels like it. We hardly managed to make it onto the veranda, glass in hand and there it was: A southern right whale breeching 3 times into the lovely sunset. That justifies a "WOW!".

2 of our group of 4 have already visited twice and we'd never consider staying anywhere else in the area. Location, location, location - yes, Whalesong Lodge has got it. But much more important: Some people have a rare talent of making you feel right at home - and Lainy and Stanley are among those few.

The view is incredible, the rooms nice and cosy, yet, first and foremost for me it's about how you feel when you're there: Relaxed, at ease, peaceful ...GREAT!

Did I mention the hosts are marvelous cooks? If you are lucky enough to stay there try and persuade them to put on a house dinner - they spoil you rotten and you'll be getting on your friends' nerves raving about it back home!

If you pick whale season and the weather is fine do not miss out on a boat trip with Ivanhoe's. They're well organised, immensely knowledgeable and fun. Just ask Stanley, he'll book you on in no time.
A walk in the dunes also works wonders for mind & soul and the short trip to Hermanus is a nice diversion.

What else? Well, next time we'll stay longer. Lainy said we're part of the extended Whalesong Lodge Family now. We sincerely hope so!

Miss you lots.

Hi Girls...Thanks for the stunning review on your experience of De Kelders & us...love the photo of the whale, it looks like she's jumping in a see of diamonds!! You can clearly see the footprints in the back of the previous 2 breaches. It was absolutely fabulous to have you all here at the same time...looking forward to the yearly family reunion!!! Warmest wishes Lainy & Stanley

For us the top reason for visiting South Africa in October this year was to see whales - and we believe, there are not very much places in the world being better adapted for this request than Whalesong Lodge. The location directly over the cliffs (just a quiet service road to cross), a winding path in the cliffs you can stroll along being accompanied by the whales - mostly mother and calf - what more could you wish? Warmest hospitality from Lainy and Stanley, the owners of the lodge, awesome breakfast (the best omelette ever eaten, fresh homemade pastry and jams), and once or twice the week a superb dinner - we felt so well!
And if you need assistance in any way - Stanley knows how to help by giving advices, doing some booking, reservating a table, recommending a wine (btw., he speaks perfect German).
We stayed for 3 nights, but next time we will be there for at least five ...

In october 2012 we travelled to South Africa to see the whales. Our travelagent advised to go to Walker Bay and stay at the Whalosonglodge on top of the cliffs in de Kelders. The best advice one can receive. The Whalesonglodge is a beautiful guesthouse where Stanley and Lainey, the owners, practice hospitality with a capital H. They and their staff spoil you any way they can, make you feel very welcome and make sure you have a wonderful time. The rooms are stylishly decorated, breakfast, cakes and dinner are really scrumptious.
And the whales took our breath away. There is no better place for land-based whale watching, you can admire them only meters away. Absolutely fascinating, it takes your breath away.

This was our first stop when arriving in South Africa. We chose Whalesong on recommendation and we were incredibly happy with the decision to stay there.
Customer service of staff and owners was fantastic. They truly want you to be comfortable, fed and happy.
Rooms were really cute and modern. No TV and no telephones in the rooms and we were completely happy with that. Nature and the views was our TV.
The views from the deck overlooking the bay were amazing. You can see for miles and can see plenty of right whales swimming by.
I highly recommend this place to anyone travelling to Gansbaai area. Ask about the local restaurants that are situated near by and in walking distance.
Thank you so much for a fabulous stay.

Room Tip: Don't really have a tip about the rooms, but go in spring so you can see the right whales and th...

To make a very long story short: My Girlfriend and I arrived at the lodge with a whale family just floating meters away from the house. We parked the car and Stanley already send us a warm welcome shout from the terrace. We were ensured that whales will be here all the time so he showed us our room - the absolutely stunning see view suite - see pictures. We walked as close to the whales as we could - found nice secluded area to watch them and I took all my courage and proposed to my girlfriend. Litterally 10 seconds after she said yes the whales made beautiful sounds and minutes later the sunset broke through the before overcast sky. What sounds so cheezy here actually felt magic.
Stanley was very supportive and offered champagne ... booked an awesome restaurant and when we returned we fell asleep in a prewarmed bed looking onto the moonlit bay.
Breakfast was awesome and the staff was very friendly. Stanley and Lainy even found the time to help us with our onward journey nagotiating great discounts at Gorah (Addo).
We will definately return.

Room Tip: The suite offers possibly the best experience you can have along the coast. View, facilities, comfor...

Thanks to Lainey and Stanley for that great experience!!
Everything was just perfect, started with the warm welcoming, the calm and nice atmosphere 'like being at home' (plus great Service), nice sundowner, sooooo Super Super Good breakfast and Dinner....still dreaming of the breakfast Muffins and the Granola!

And most important the Location and the VIEW!!!
We arrived and were totally flashed by seeing that much whales. From the parking Lot, the promenade, the living room, the sun deck AND our BED

I will definitely recommend it to my Friends and Family and will come back for sure!!!

Thank you again!
