“5 Star all the way!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 22, 2014

We booked this place because of the amazing reviews and pictures we saw here on trip advisor and we were so happy! I can't begin to tell you how much we loved this place. From the minute we walked in, Nico was very helpful and extremely friendly. The room was absolutely amazing. We were right at the water! It felt like we were on a boat!

We loved everything about this place! Service, the room, the view, the breakfast and all the amenities that were so carefully placed in our room and the common areas.

Service - Super helpful, very personalized, very polite. Nico booked dinner for us, gave us maps for our shark diving and dinner, had our dive time confirmed before we arrived. Gideon helped us with our shark experience by giving us sea sickness tablets and jackets to wear on the boar. He also helped us plan our drive to Franschhoek and what to do there.

Room and View - We had the Ocean Suite which was upstairs and absolutely gorgeous and spacious. Enough room to lounge and enjoy the view! The room was very clean and stocked with everything you could imagine including a Nespresso machine! We did use the machine and Gideon was kind enough not to charge us for it! A lot of hotels and B&Bs have coffee for free but charge for Nespresso. He even had bottles of all sort of alcohol and just asked us to mark off if we had anything.

Breakfast was also extremely good. Right from the bread basket, the cold stuff and the amazing omelette I had both days. Wish we could have stayed longer!

Highly highly recommend! Even if you are in Cape Town, take a day/night out and come and experience Cliff Lodge and Gideon and his teams hospitality!

Room Tip: We were in the Ocean Suite which was amazing, but if you don't want to splurge as much I believe...

My son and I recently stayed two nights at Cliff Lodge. Everything was outstanding. The view is stunning. The welcome warm. The rooms as nice as a Hilton Hotel, with about everything you can think of as far as being equipped.
Gideon and Chantelle are extemely helpful with any travel plans one may have. They will phone, organize or book for you whatever you need. Due to bad weather, we had to rebook our planned shark dive to a different day. They absolutely did everything they could including letting us mover our second's night stay three days later in order to accommodate.
A quick note on the rooms: the north room by far has the most beautiful view. The west room is extremely private with its own veranda. The east and south rooms are also lovely, but their views of the ocean are not as direct.
Cliff Lodge is simply an outstanding experience and worth every penny. I hope to return with my wife later in the year. Highly recommended.

We had a wonderful time and enjoyed the upbeat and personal care (specifically Nico!). The location is gorgeous, breakfast is great. They organised a visit to the wonderful Creation vineyard and local dinners. All in all, highly recommended!

This guesthouse is the definition of "love at first sight"!
Situated in a picturesque small village right next to the water, you can litteraly breath the ocean while watching the whales or just enjoying your drink. Marvelous sunset with the cape of Good hope at the very end of the horizon.
Super comfortable rooms, cozy and luxurious living room, absolute hospitality
I will never forget Gideon's fantastic homemade breakfast and our north room with the outdoor shower with ocean view (I will come back for the same room!)
For dinning one can visit a very nice restaurant located only a few romantic promenade minutes away. Plenty options for activities as well. If you enjoy horses, there is a possibility of riding along the beach. A lifetime experience...
Cliff Lodge, was definitely THE best memory of our 7 day trip in S/A.
Gideon, Chantelle, Nico and Gill, thank you very-very much.

Room Tip: What about watching real whales whille having a shower? Then go for the North room with the outdoor...

We go every year to run the Old Mutual Two Oceans Marathon which is held over the Easter Weekend. After the marathon we stay for few days at some nice place in Cape Town. This year we decided to stay at the Cliff Lodge Gansbaai, Western Cape. A very nice road goes from Cape Town to Gansbaai. We found Cliff Lodge absolutely stunning overlooking almost like an enclave of Ocean. In Whale watching season, we have been told that one can sit on the balcony and watch the whales. The rooms were spacious and well catered for. The staff were amazing. Gideon the owner was himself a "hands on" kinda guy. He looked after us very well not only at the lodge but also in booking for our lunches and shark cage diving at a very short notice. The Gloek restaurant in Gansbaai was amazing where we had our supper as the lodge does not cater for lunches or dinners. The meat at Gloek restaurant is Halaal so as Muslim customers we had very good time.
The kitchen at the Cliff Lodge is well equipped. The lodge is well staffed and there is always somebody available to sort out any problem. We will definitely return there to stay again.

Room Tip: Sea Facing

My boyfriend and I spent two nights here, en route from Port Elizabeth to Cape Town. We had met a couple on the way who highly recommended it and we weren't disappointed! The owner Gideon and the staff are so friendly and helpful and the guest house instantly feels like home. The highlight though is the view! Both mornings we had a delicious breakfast on the balcony overlooking a stunning view. In our second evening there we were luckily enough to watch one of the best sunsets I have seen anywhere in the world whilst supping a cider and watching a pod of over 200 dolphins swim through the bay! Incredible!
