Owner description: The owner and founder Brian McFarlane is a professional diver and skipper who has always made a living from the sea. He started diving for perlemoen (abalone) at a young age, then moved on to become a commercial fisherman for 6 years and spent another 6 years diving in search of wrecks along the southern coast of Africa. This was followed by the diving for diamonds from the sea bed for the next 20 years. He has become a local legend with his fascinating tales about the sea and underwater experiences. During the timewhen Great White Shark fishing was allowed, Brian caught Great Whites, some weighing more than 1 ton.Today, he dearly regrets this and now spends his time and efforts in finding the great beasts to be observedand photographed at close range. Brian has worked with the Great Whites for 18 years, and has only had6 non-sighting days in the last 10 years.

“Well worth the wait”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 23, 2012

After a wait we had and excellent day with plenty of great white sharks coming right close to the boat. My daughter went in the cage and said it was once in a life time experience. These guys knew where to find us a bunch of sharks, thanks guys.
A really enjoyable experience caught on variuos cameras and videos.

“Amazing experience!! A must do!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 19, 2012

We booked with Great White Shark tours based on other Trip Advisor reviews and we were extremely pleased with picked this company. We booked well in advance to ensure our spot and everything from booking, payment, pickup and the actual dive went perfect! We were lucky and had a beautiful winter day with clear skies and calm water. The company is VERY professional and provide lots of info before the dive along with excellent customer service during the trip. We felt that all the staff in the main building and especially on the boat were very friendly, relaxed and wanting to make the experience the best it could be. The equipment provided (wet suits and masks) were great quality. Pick up in Cape Town is early but you can sleep in the van on the way. Upon arriving to the main building a basic self serve breakfast is provided (toast, muffins, fruit, hard boiled eggs, yogurt, coffee and juice). Snacks (chips, sandwiches and fruit) and drinks (soda, water and juice) were provided in coolers on the boat. Afterwards, soup, cookies, coffee and tea is provided in the main building while watching the DVD of the trip. We weren't thrilled with the DVD as it didn't have many underwater portion. No photos were offered which was ok because we had our own underwater camera (highly recommended to bring). The dive itself was great and beyond our expectations. About 8 people enter the cage at a time and you get to see at least 20 passes of the sharks before they switch groups. You then are able to go back into the cage again if you'd like. We did 2 dives and a friend did 3 which was more than enough. At one point a shark rammed the cage and had his nose inside the cage but we had enough space in the cage to jump back away from him. The captain explained that this was unusual and it seemed the shark had become disorientated for some reason when the bait was pulled away from him. Otherwise, the sharks calmly glided by the cage in front of us, under our feet and jumped for the bait. Boat also takes a quick trip by Seal Island on way home. Overall, this was an amazing experience and a great company to do it with!

“Pretty awesome!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 14, 2012 via mobile

We joined Brian and his crew on our first cage shark diving experience yesterday. It is something that once you have done it, you feel like you have really had a once in a lifetime experience. The crew was super nice and very patient. Brian has also worked with the Discovery Channel for Shark Week, so you can be sure that you are sailing with a quality outfit. He let's you stay down in the cage until you have really experienced the Great Whites up close an personal! I would recommend Brian McFarlane and his crew to everyone.

“So good I went twice!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 13, 2012

I was in Cape Town for a work trip and decided to stay a few extra days to go shark diving. I booked a transfer with this company from my hotel in Cape Town down to Gansbaii. I actually booked my trip through sharkbookings.com and got lucky enough to end up with this company. I had such a blast the first day I actually went back the next day for a second trip. Even though March isn't the ideal time to visit we saw a ton of sharks, big ones included. On the second day after we were done diving we went past Seal Island and even saw some penguins. Breakfast was provided and after a safety briefing you board the boat and you're on your way. I can't say enough great things about Brian McFarlane and his entire team. They're all so helpful and professional- it really makes for a great experience. They have a direct website as well: http://www.sharkcagediving.net/

“Incredible experience with nice people”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 8, 2012 via mobile

Very nice ambient with the crew and the other people. They respect the sharks and transmits love to them. They welcome you with a breakfast, you can eat and drink during the trip and at arrival you get a hot soup. The experience is incredible and the service too.
