We only came across Rosemary's by luck after visiting Gansbaai to see the Great White Sharks but what a treat we were in for! When we saw the signs for Tea & Cakes and Authentic South African cuisine out of curiosity we decided to pop our heads in! We were happily surprised and greeted in a manner that straight away made us feel welcome!
We decided to stay and have lunch to try the home cooked authentic SA cuisine and it turned out to be the best food we had had in our whole stay in South Africa!
We ate in the garden and immediately felt relaxed in the tranquil surroundings while the waitress took us through the menu and explained the local dishes and what they consisted of! The food was delicious and was exactly what I'd been looking for in our whole trip to SA, proper home cooked authentic cuisine!
As you step through the door and walk through the restaurant to the garden you notice the decor that takes you back to colonial times and it gives you a sense of real old fashioned class and individuality that time has sadly forgotten!
If your visiting Gansbaai to do the great white shark dive then make sure you pencil in Rosemary's for lunch before you head back to cape town or where ever you may be going, it's definitely worth it!
And treat yourself to the dessert! We had one to take away to have later when we returned to Cape Town with a cup of tea, they're fantastic and the fruit comes from Rosemary's Garden!
