“Superb”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 10, 2012

Four-day honeymoon trip to Bushmans was everything we could have asked for. Excellent food, service and spa, and complete relaxation and tranquility. Simply put, it's the best hotel either of us have been to. Will be back as often as possible.

Room Tip: Deluxe suite with private suite is superb, with a wonderful (heated) private pool. Otherwise, one of...

My stay was not long enough! Tranquil, beautiful resort and surroundings, a place to relax and be spoilt. Staff were exceptional and could not do enough for me - thank you all.
As previous reviews, the conservations efforts were to be admired. Activities to do or just relax, perfect.
It is not a Game Reserve but would like to have seen more animals on the property.
A fair drive from Cape Town but scenery along the way takes your mind of that.

We hadn't planned to stay at Bushman's Kloof during our visit to SA to celebrate a special birthday but accommodation we had booked elsewhere proved unsatisfactory and we phoned up on the off chance that BK would have availability. It was the best decision of our holiday and worth every penny! The staff were friendly and welcoming which was particularly nice as we turned up late at night in the dark. Our luxury room was great, the food was wonderful and the setting, when we saw it the following morning, was splendid. The rock art and nature tours were a particular highlight of our stay and our guide extremely knowledgeable. This is a true wilderness retreat and it's encouraging to see the work that goes into preserving it for future generations to enjoy. If you have the chance, go!

We were at Bushmans Kloof 8 years ago with our kids and decided to return to celebrate a wedding anniversary. What a good idea that was! From the minute we arrived we were welcomed like long lost friends. The staff were so friendly and attentive. When the staff are happy - it makes for a happy environment and that is what came across clearly.
In between amazing spa treatments and delicious meals that kept on coming we took the opportunity to hike and cycle and covered most of the reserve very easily. The blue sky and the wonderful light were something to remember. No cell phone reception meant that we could really get away from it all and totally relax.

Room Tip: All are great.

This was my third visit to Bushmans Kloof and my husband's first and it didn't disappoint on any level. The setting is magnificent, the food superb and the staff exceptional but it is the lodge's conservation ethos that really impressed us. The efforts they're putting into preserving the incredible Bushman paintings they have on site, their reintroduction to the area of endangered animal species and their recycling efforts mean that at least a part of this breathtaking Cederberg region is being preserved for future generations.

We stayed at Bushman's Kloof as part of a Backroads biking tour and it was definitely a highlight of our 18 day tour of South Africa.
Our room was a private villa with it's own infinity pool overlooking the game reserve. We could sit out on our patio and watch the herds in the distance. The food was 5 star as well as the staff. Though it is a long drive to get there as it's in the middle of nowhere, it was well worth it. The drive was very scenic and being so remote the stars at night are the best I've ever seen! This is a not a reserve where you will see all of the big % but what is unique is that you can if you choose ride a bike through the game park. We did rides in the morning and game drives in the afternoon. The Sundowners (champagne/wine/cocktails) out on the drive while watching the sunset I still miss. The rangers are knowledgeable and super friendly. I would highly recommend this resort. Not far too from Capetown you can add that as part of your stay.

My husband and I first went to Bushmans Kloof in December 2000 and had a fantastic time. We were keen to try it again and were not disappointed. I recommend missing lunch and having afternoon tea; the open sandwiches, pastries and cakes are fantastic and all made locally. The staff are wonderful and service good. We experienced one exception to this which was our last evening meal on Friday 19th October when a new restaurant crew had taken over. The game drives, bird watching and rock art drives are fascinating and very well run. The guides are very knowledgeable and guests are put in sympathetic groups. We didn't have enough time to experience the spa but the facilities looked good. My husband and I had our wedding anniversary while we were there and were given a bottle of Cap Classique. The location is beautiful and the ambiance very relaxing.
