“Attractive rock formations”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 31, 2013

Passed along this route during the flower season on our way to Biedouw Valley. The rock formations were interesting and the road was excellent. There is a coffee shop/general dealer next to the road on a farm.
It is a nice drive if you have the time to stop as well and take in the surrounding landscape.

Great scenery... great drive! Gravel pass that takes you into the Cedarberg from Clanwilliam. Suitable for normal motor vehicles

“Nice scenery, some flowers-have seen nicer passes”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 7, 2013

This is a nice drive to do from Clanwiliam especially since the road is paved. We have driven more than one pass in South Africa and I have to say that even though the rock formations are really nice and worth a drive I was more impressed by Giffberg pass near Vanrrhynsdorp. Giffberg pass has amazing rock formations but you also get closer to very interesting plants. The road is dirt but in good condition and there is almost no traffic.

I would recommend a drive over Pakhuis pass if you have not visited many other passes.

“Beautiful in Good Weather”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 9, 2013

The scenery is amazing I just wish we had taken more photos the first time we drove through but we wanted to see flowers that day as the sun was shining. We returned the following day hoping to see more and take photos but low cloud meant that we could barely see across the road.

“pakhuis pass”

A very different ecosystem.. with incredible rock formations... you do need to prepare so that you
dont just drive through without knowing more about the history and geomorphology ..it is an amazing 'pass' through to the next wondrous view.
