“Accommodation is average- food terrible!!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 22, 2013

We recently stayed here for a cycling weekend. The staff were friendly- a bit slow but fine. The restaurant had a few other guests on this evening. We were a group of 12 people and at least half of us had to send our food back as it was cold. Generally speaking the quality of the food was poor! I think the Lodge has a lot of potential but definitely lacks in management. Would be nice if the owners can re- energize this lodge.

If you are looking for a central, comfortable and friendly place to stay the this is the place to be. The rooms are clean and spacious with a bed that is truly quality ensuring a good nights rest.

The swimming setting is very nice and inviting. Unfortunately it was too cold to swim.

The biggest plus for the lodge is the staff. They definitely know the meaning of service excellence. From the ladies at the front desk to the cleaning staff to the waiters, everyone serves with a smile and are willing to go the extra mile.

Passing through or staying for a few days, it is definitely worthwhile.

I would highly recommend it as a base to explore the surrounding area.

We are here for the second time so it cannot be too bad. The staff are very friendly and the new management are doing an improvement regime. Would return again. The only problem was the weather, no really warm or dry enough, but even the management cannot control that. Although Obi did try!

We stopped off at Clanwilliam Lodge on our way back from Namibia and found such friendly people working there. The chef was from our home town Paarl, and what a tonic after a long drive. She makes as amazing Surf and Turf. The waitress were so friendly and the rooms were so beautifull and inviting. What a nice welcome home! Thanks to all the staff working there.

A group of four friends from Kingston Jamaica, visited Clanwilliam Lodge in late January 2013 as we journeyed through parts of South Africa and into Namibia. Our only desire was to have stayed longer. We booked into the executive rooms which were aesthetically delightful, the rooms were very comfortable and the soaking tub was an absolute treat once I had lit my candles (I never leave home without them) and poured a glass of SA wine provided by the lodge. Front desk, restaurant and bar staff never disappointed. The smile of the lady who came by to turn the beds down and leave the nightly 'sweet dreams' chocolate remains seared in my mind.
Clanwilliam is a charming little town. Clanwilliam Lodge had us enchanted from the welcome drink to the oh too soon goodbye. Our experience at the Lodge surely helped make our entire vacation spectacular!

Room Tip: All rooms seems lovely, the presidential suite was PRESIDENTIAL.

Disgusting breakfast buffet! Unsanitary restaurant, flys everywhere!! Unhelpful staff. Expensive at R85 pp. Rather stock up at the Spar! The grill and counter tops were filthy..... The OJ was fake and the staff were really not pleased to serve!
