“Do you need a fantastic restful weekend away? Feel new after only three days!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 17, 2013

Had a weekend away last year in April and this year at the beginning of May. What a stunningSpot and fabulous service. A really great place to walk, as challenging as you wish to make it with either a flat walk out and back or right up to an "Alpe du Huez" with the hairpin bends thrown in for good measure and about a 20 degree uphill if that's what blows your hair back. Horse back riding available on well kept horses but not for genuine riders and bikes are also available. Fishing doesn't do it for me but for those who did, loved it with all the choice. Stunning, stunning, stunning and oh my sack - the massage I had with Anna was wonderful, sorry I meant WONDERFUL. When you go into town you must have a meal at Mrs. Simpson. The Dullstroom in pub is excellent with fabulous atmosphere and great chips. Getting excited just thinking about it. Must go because I want to plan my next weekend away and only 2 and a half to three hours from Pretoria or Johannesburg and a fabulous stop off from Hoedspruit.

Room Tip: I think all the rooms are well placed

the hotel rooms are "heavenly"real 5*****venue for a well deserving break.each room is equipped with Fireplace.microwave,Big Bar fridge fully stocked! be warned that the cottages facing the lakes are cold (fireplace, heated floors compensate) BUT the morning sunrise is awesome and a closer view of Ducks and Trout fish. the cottages are really huge with separate bath & shower facilities. the gym is located at the stables and an added bonus is to witness sunrise whislt on the treadmill/stepper!awesome hospitality. the area gets vold and windy early evening, pack warmly. a nice stopover if travelling to the Kruger National Park. meals are A la Carte 4 course, they served Trout baked with almond flakes - favourite!

This time we rented one of the houses on the Estate, and did not overnight at the hotel. the main building is still as wonderful as ever. the staff are fantastic and really do their best to be of service without being obtrusive.

We ate at the hotel for dinner and as always was a very good meal with excellent service. Good selection of wines.

We were at the bar a couple of evenings. again faultless service. great ambience.

the fishing was fantastic, i think we hit a good time with the waters hitting the right temperature for trout. the fish were nice size and healthy.

the one negative was that if you were not staying at the hotel you could not get wifi access. quite petty for a five star hotel. all the establishments in Dullstroom offer wifi at no charge.

Walkersons is one of the most relaxing places which I have visited. The staff are friendly and helpful while at the same time being unobtrusive. The facilities are well maintained and the common areas quiet and tranquil.

Room Tip: The self-catering chalets are comfortable and nesteled away from the main hotel.

This is my 2nd time at Walkersons, unfortunately the experience was just average. Though the accommodation is pretty much up to scratch, the food quality has deteriorated. The meal quality last night was less than average, the soup was too gravy, the trout overcooked completely dry.
Comparing Walkersons with similar priced accommodation in South Africa, they need to improve to justify their rates,
The WiFi did not work for the entire stay either.

I spent 2 nights at Walkersons for the first time in March. It was also my first time in Dullstroom, and i was really pleasantly surprised!

What a gorgeous little town Dullstroom is! Clean & neat with pretty flowers all over, friendly people and lots of unique and interesting stores/attractions, such as their own micro brewery, chocolatiers, whiskey tastings, trout, locally made leather shoes etc.

Walkerson's is a beautiful country retreat (about 1km out of town), offering gorgeous views of the surrounding hills & valleys and many man made trout dams. They offer walks and horse riding, trout fishing of course, as well as a spa.

It can get very cold in Winter so be prepared for that. The hotel however is fully equipped with fireplaces in the rooms and all the public areas.

The rooms are very spacious individual stone chalets with a large balcony. The outdoor showers are brilliant!!! (but they do have indoor ones too)

We had breakfast and dinner there and the meals were outstanding! I couldn't stop complimenting the chef...!

If your looking for a weekend away as a couple of a family, this is a very special place.

If you are enroute to the Kruger, be sure to stop off here. You wont be sorry.

This is our 2nd visit to Walkersons and it won't be our last. My husband is on crutches, so we opted to stay in Manor suite 1 which is next door to the main building and therefore did not entail any walks to and from the lodges. On our previous stay we'd been in one of the luxury lodges, which after dinner and in the dark, were not ideal for my husband. This suite suited us perfectly and we would certainly opt to stay in it again. I can only heap praise on this place, the staff, the food and the surroundings, all perfect. I love the idea of returning from a delicious dinner and a few "tipples" to a room with a welcoming log fire, bed turned down and everything conducive to a relaxing ambience and a good night's sleep! Well done Walkersons, you certainly have the right recipe for excellent hospitality!

Room Tip: As mentioned in the review, the "Manor Suite 1" was ideal for my husband and I, although c...
