“I felt safe, clean, warm and dry here!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 18, 2009

Due to a horrible experience finding a motel late at night the prior evening along I-40, I looked at four different hotels along this strip before finding this one. I arrived around 11:30pm and this place was the only one which you were actually able to walk inside the lobby area late at night. The others had the main areas partitioned off with ugly bullet proof windows you talk through. I had never encountered such an area of high security/distrust before and it was really a creepy little area late at night with only the motel operators and restaurants open. The dimly lit main street with the way out of date neon signs does not help. If I had to do over, I would have avoided this area and driven on further up I-40 but alas. The motel was kept up well, the guy running the place was nice and the room was nice. It was a basic, bottom floor room in the back and was like $45. It had a very comfy queen, ok tv, small fridge, microwave, coffee area and pretty nice bath and a super cute window you can open in front of a table for two. The best part is the water pressure. If have never, ever taken a shower like that before. I wasn't sure I would be able to stand the force of it but I did and I never felt better. The room seemed clean, smelled clean and with the window open the nice breeze was great. Slept very sound. Did not hear any neighbors. Had good cell signal and internet speed from the room too! Denny's right beside the place, however, we stopped further up the rode at a McDs and kept going. All the others, that were not obvious dumps, wanted double the price of this one and the quality looks basically the same for all these highway motels/hotels. If I ever stop here again, this is the place I'd check out first.

Found this one for $49 and since I am part of the Choice Privileges program decided to give it a try.

Arrived in the late afternoon and found the front desk clerk to be polite and helpful. My reservation indicated a pet room, which I did not request when I made the reservation, so check-in took a few minutes. Not a major problem, though.

The room was clean and spacious. The bed was comfortable. Lot's of channels on the TV, but not crystal clear reception. Wifi was easy and fast.

The only real negative I had about the room is that we were in 201, directly over the ice machine on the first floor. We could hear water running in the plumbing every time the ice machine cycled on, which seemed to be most the time. The noise was somewhat annoying.

Breakfast was about the least impressive that I've ever seen at a freebie continental. Two kinds of cereal, Milk and juice, and some celophane wrapped honeybuns. Coffee and decaf. The breakfast bar was unattended and there were no cups....so I rummaged around in the cabinet and found some. Finally a worker showed up to make a fresh pot of coffee and put out some styrofoam cups.

Checkout was interesting........a note on the front desk that said "Leave your key on the desk." No one to be seen!

All in all, we slept clean and comfortably for considerably less money than many of the other choices in town. Not overly impressive, but not a deal breaker either.

We stayed here for one night while traveling coast to coast.
Cheap hotel. But not so good.
Walls are too thin. You can literally hear everything from neighbors. No privacy at all.
Odd arrangement of toilet / bathroom.
We had some issue with the wireless connection and the reception staff did not know anything about it.
Breakfast was just ok.
Over all, place is tolerable for one night but not the best of ones.
Other econo lodges are far better.

I stayed here due to the good reviews, but this is definately an average hotel. The rooms are simple, ours was non-smoking but was not fresh smelling. Breakfast is weak - not very good break, Sunny-D-Light O-J isn't great. Lights flicker off due to bad wiring, spinklers in room have damaged cieling around them. The shower was OK, but quite low. The heater was a small electric one, which worked well, but is certainly average. Wi-Fi was not easy to connect to - I called three times, and finally walked down to the front desk to get the proper password.

We just spent one night here while we were on the road. The rooms were actually pretty nice for this hotel class. We had a nonsmoking room and didn't smell any smoke at all. Hotel is near other hotels and a Denny's so I definitely felt safe. There are other hotels in the town that provide a hot tub for the same price as the econolodge, so if you want an indoor/pool hot tub I'd look for one of those. Overall, though, for a cheap place to sleep this was okay.

This hotel was okay. Showing it's age. Smoker's were all over which you noticed in the non-smoking rooms. It was clean though, that is most important to me. And we slept comfortably. No elevators, had to carry everything upstairs. This hotel can use some remodeling. God Bless ~ Larry, Sherrill & Hailey Hooker

I have stayed here a number of times over a two year period.
Location is good with a Dennys next door.

Rooms are OK, basic but clean with good shower/bath moulded units with no gross tile mould like you see in other rooms in town. Cable is thrown in for TV addicts and beds and linens are kept clean. Second floor is not handicapped accessible.

For those that need a short run fix there is a dirt road across the street going to a Natural area run by the NM Game and Fish Dept. (Run down but good spot for birding).

If you need some other stuff the K-mart is just to the west about 3/4 mile and you are only 1-3/4 mile from Del's one of the few non-chain places to eat in Tucumcari. The town also produces some awesome FETA cheese and even has an ostrich and emu farm.

If you need to get in the water, a 25 minute drive north to Logan will get you to Ute Lake State Park - It's south area is pretty good for a refreshing dip in the water. Fishing is great too!!
