The reviews of the Blue Swallow Motel are mostly glowing. I'm not sure what most of them were expecting, but I expected a bit more for the price.
The neon sign is exceptional; however, we arrived in a thunderstorm, so the manager had turned the sign off. That's understandable because neon is expensive to replace.
The rooms have garages, but the manager wanted us to back in. Since they were smallish, we didn't want to chance it, so we parked out in the lot.
The room was small and a bit dated. I guess you could call it nostalgic, but I could have gone for a newer mattress. The bath was quaint, and I liked the tiled shower.
The manager was quite friendly and offered suggestions for eats and such. Free internet allowed us to update Facebook on our travels.
I'm tentatively saying I would recommend this hotel because if you're aware that it's a bit dated--meaning worn around the edges more than nostalgic, I don't think you'll be disappointed.
