After a long ride from Texas, we pulled into the Motel Safari and found the staff to be very friendly, the rooms spotless, fresh and comfortable. After having a BBQ and sinking a few beers we found the beds to be the best in New Mexico, if not the whole of our trip along Route 66! In the morning we were shown around the small town of Tucumcari by Richard the owner, to find it full of amazing wall paintings and the route 66 culture we were looking for along the way in small town America!
