“Fabulous Welcome, Fabulous Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 20, 2011

We stayed one night for our 'Honeymoon Route 66', venture and thoroughly enjoyed Motel Safari.
Our accommodation had been pre-booked along the way and we were dissappointed with lots of our stays so weren't expecting much however we were greatly surprised. We were welcomed into the motel, shown our room and given advice on what to visit in Tucumcari. Considering we were only there for one day we crammed in loads and it was all thanks to Gail at the Motel providing leaflets and information on the local attractions.
The room was very comfortable and extremely clean and there was music playing on the stereo when we arrived! It was all local music and was a very nice touch.
I can't rate this Motel high enough and would advise anyone looking for accommodation in Tucumcari to use the Motel Safari.

Cleanliness was better than most five star hotels and all rooms are non-smoking! If you like nostalgia of old HWY 66 days this is for you but if you want sleep without disturbance try something else because road noise was high. Maybe a room toward the back would help.

We stayed at the Safari while on our Route 66 vacation in September, mainly upon the recommendations of travelers here on Tripadvisor. We were not disappointed. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable, and the service was second to none. I highly recommend the Motel Safari.

Just as promised. So retro that it was great fun. Very clean room, the people were very friendly and comfortable beds. Don't let the outside fool you. Just remember you are stepping back in time, appearance wise, but what a great experience. Will stay here again and again. In the winter, the heat in the bathroom might be a problem.

Stayed one night 31st October 2011. Loved the room. Very clean. Very comfortable bed. Very helpful staff even printed out instructions for us for our itinerary next day.
Loved the retro style furnishings. Free wireless internet. As we are travelling route 66 this was ideal as it keeps the mother road theme.

Just got back from a trip to this hotel. The room was very clean, and the beds were very comfy. The TV was great and the wifi, ( recently upgraded I believe ), was strong and fast enough to upload videos to youtube etc.

The staff is very friendly as well.

We had to leave early due to a death in the family and they owners worked with us wonderfully, and even though we didnt ask for it, we got a refund for the nights we did not stay there.

There is not a nicer or better place to stay in Tucumcari!

If you want to experience the nostalgia of the motels from the 50's on Route 66, this is the one to try!! What a great stay! Our only disappointment was that we didn't have time to stay more nights. The owners have certainly made sure to keep the feel of the Route 66 era, yet have added the conveniences you expect today, such as free WiFi, flat screen TV, bright lighting, powerful shower and the best linens and bed possible. We even got a call from the owner late afternoon of our check-in date, to make sure we were still arriving and see if we needed directions! What customer service! Upon our arrival, she even escorted us to our room and showed us how to operate the heat & air unit, the coffee pot, etc. Included in the room was a little history book about the motel and the area. Breakfast is not available at the motel, but there are Route 66 diners nearby to complete your experience.
