“Great location but needs some TLC”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 25, 2013

We have stayed at this hotel/motel five or six times. Before we always reserved a king room which as been very adequate in size. This time we reserved a two room suite which is convenient because I can get up with the dog early and let my wife sleep in. And obviously the property is pet friendly.

I think there are eight different buildings, each with two floors. The lay out is great and the hotel is on Pueblo del Sur, the main road through Taos. The rooms are in need of remodeling including new carpets and new furniture. You might say everything is well worn.

The landscaping is in need of maintenance as the lawn had not been mowed in over two weeks, weeds were everywhere, and volunteer Siberian elms were in many of the flower beds. The bar in the main building was closed, supposedly being updated although there was no sign of activity. Breakfast was provided in the restaurant. The food was fair. This was apparently the only use of the restaurant.

The property could be great with the location and layout. But the owners need to invest in it or it will be gone before long.

Room Tip: Rooms in the center buildings are quieter.

Thank you for your comments.

We have just taken over the management of the hotel and have started work on giving it warmth and vitality as you rightly comment it needs.

The lobby has been re-done, the lounge and adobe fireplace are being re-done and the restaurant is now OPEN for breakfast and lunch, with dinner coming along shortly.

The indoor pool is being rejuvenated, the hot tub will gain be operational for the ski season . . that is a big win for us - finding the parts!.

The rooms are all being deep cleaned and detailed.

We are moving pretty fast . . . we wish we could move yet faster.
Thanks so much,
Josh and Andy - Management Team

We stayed here on 11/12/13. Our room was spacious and clean and opened into a peaceful inner courtyard. We appreciate that this hotel is pet friendly. The staff was very helpful. The continental breakfast had a variety of foods and was very good. The new management seems eager to make improvements on the property. We feel we got good value for our money. We would stay here again.

We stayed over at hotel one night. Not too many options in Taos. Place looks nice on the outside and public areas are decent. The problem was the beds. The mattresses were extremely old. They actually were so worn that the had indentations of the use. They were not flat. I did not sleep much, nor did my family.

In addition to the old beds, the first room we were in did not have working heater. It was a pain to pack up and move to another. The bathrooms had hair on the floor.

Room Tip: If they update bedding might be ok

I enjoyed the hospitality at this southwestern property. The small groupings of units in separate buildings and southwestern building and landscaping was very pleasant. It felt like a little casita, but with the convenience of the lobby next door. The breakfast was a full breakfast. Best of all was the hospitality. The entire staff was so friendly and went out of their way to make us comfortable. Logs for the fireplace were provided and the suite had a frig and mini-bar. We were very happy with the cleanliness, too. Veronica

The room was great. Clean, large and comfortable. The breakfasts were excellent. A good, hot breakfast that filled me up. The pool looked very inviting, though I didn't partake. The hotel is currently doing some renovation, but it didn't interfere. The staff was incredibly helpful and made me feel appreciated.

Room Tip: The hotel is laid out like a bunch of condos, each room is very private. Some look towards the court...

Large rooms at small room prices; very clean & quiet; indoor pool; close to old downtown; great staff. Breakfast--eggs, sausage juice coffee, hot water, variety of mini muffins, bagels, etc. I'd love to stay here again when I have more days to stay.
