“Not on par with other Hampton Inn's, cancel if you get room #128”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed February 13, 2010

We stayed a couple nights between Christmas and New Year's so the hotel was full. Unfortunately, we were put in a ground floor room which shared a wall with the guest laundry AND the exercise room. If that was not bad enough just outside our room door was the outside entrance and the elevators. Needless to say no hotel should have a guest room next to those all of that. We heard guest foot traffic until midnight through the poorly insulated room door and we were promptly awakened by the sound of someone running on a treadmill at 5:30am. Being a Hilton Honors Gold Member I am surprised we were booked into this room. After complaining to the front desk they stated that the points used for our stay would be credited back.....7 weeks later this has yet to happen. Hilton's corporate guest services have been notified so hopefully I can get my refund soon. The wifi in the room was slower than dial-up....probably the worst we have experienced.
On a final note, the breakfast area is very small considering the size of this Hampton.

The hotel was not maintained as I expected in a Hampton. The drapes in the room had dry rot from the sunlight and were falling apart. The television was an older "tube" set with poor color and reception. Coffee machine in the room was not refilled with coffee,. A housekeeping person was available as we went out the first day, and was asked to place coffee in the room. She responded by a head shake and we assumed that it would be done. When we returned the room was cleaned but no coffee. I asked the desk and they claimed the person probably did not understand English. If they are going to use non-English speakers they should wear a name tag saying that they do not speak the language.

It is a Hampton Inn; average for a city, better than average for Taos. The location is not desirable but you know what you are going to get. Breakfast included a variety of basic breakfast items. The room was clean and comfortable with a view toward the mountains. I appreciated the free high-speed internet.

I've stayed in quite a few hotels all over the world, and unless it's really an upscale place, I don't usually have a strong opinion about it. The Hampton Inn in Taos is definitely the nicest moderate/inexpensive hotel I've stayed in to date. The attention to detail was obvious. Everything was spotless. The bedding and linens were high quality. The toilitries (shampoo, etc...) were all natural, if I remember correctly. The owner and staff were all super nice and friendly. We didn't get to use the indoor pool, but it looked very inviting. Oh yeah, there was a great complimentary breakfast selection, too!

It is a Hampton Inn -- just like all the others. Only some of the guests were different -- more families staying here than business people, so it was louder than usual. Breakfast area needed more attention as it was swamped with people and tables needed to be cleaned off faster, but, not sure if they anticipated this or not.

The hotel is quite on the edge of Taos, not walking distance to anything. The staff was not quite rude, but pretty close. Guests park their cars next to the sidewalks by the entrance doors, not in the parking lot. Makes it very difficult to load and unload luggage. Taos has loads of hotels. I'd pick someplace closer to town and with a more professional staff.

This Hampton Inn seems to be a little older than most we've stayed in. The mattresses are soft and the room door was very squeaky, we could have used some WD-40! One of the outer doors was impossible to open with our key card and the lock to the pool (which is enclosed, but in a separate building) took several attempts. We enjoyed the Native American flute player at breakfast. He was very pleasant and took the time to show his flutes to my son. All in all , it was okay. I've stayed in far worse.
