“Good Food and Good Bakery”

Michael's Kitchen has very good New Mexican cuisine, fast service, caring waitstaff, and magnificent desserts (they have an on-sight bakery with unbelievable items like cinnamon rolls the size of frizbees and cream puffs to die for). The service is very friendly. We enjoyed our lunches very much and met many travelers who ate there several times while in Taos. It has its own parking lot (very good for Taos), so is easy to park. The owners are on-sight and very friendly.

“Good Eats!”

Michael's Kitchen

There's no doubt that Taos, NM offers many wonderful dining options. Therefore, I'll not make claims that Michael's Kitchen is the best restaurant this side of the San Juan Mtns. However, if you're looking for good eats that will not cost you the price of a lift ticket then Michael's Kitchen is a great place for breakfast, lunch, and/or dinner.

One shouldn't leave Micheal's Kitchen until the Breakfast Enchiladas are ordered and eaten. This delicious bounty of flavors (e.g., eggs, cheese, green chili sauce, etc) is an incredible meal at anytime during the day. Of course, it would be criminal to leave Michael's without sampling their sopapias (i.e., plain, indian taco, or stuffed style) and the many treats fresh baked in the bakery.

“disappointed”

This is one of those old fashioned places
with extremely friendly employees,
mediocre coffee (and, they use those "no refrigeration needed" creams that
taste like they've used spoiled citrus
oil as a preservative, yuch!!! Those thing
are horrid), and mediocre food. It's definitely
not BAD food, just ordinary, overcooked, and
served cold.

The place is mentioned in all the guide books and
advertises a lot -- that and the cheap
prices explain why there are so many people here.
You do indeed get lots of food for your money.

If food quality is not a big deal for you
and large portions of cheap food is your
thing then this would be a great place for
you to eat.

Anyway, will be trying a place called
"The Bean" up the road in the next few
days. Hoping for some good coffee
and some well prepared breakfast there.

“What a Find! Best breakfast in New Mexico”

We vacationed in Santa Fe and Taos in late September. While in Taos for a day trip, we had breakfast at Michael's. Its conveniently located on the main street. I had a memorable breakfast of scrambled eggs, red chile gravy and tortillas. It was the best tasting food that I had during the whole vacation. Even the coffee was top notch and the staff provided excellent service. I would definitely go back on my next trip.

We had breakfast and dinner at Michael's Restaurant. The service is excellent. This is a "locals" favorite and I can see why. The breakfast burrito was wonderful as was the juevos rancheros. We were so full after breakfast that we skipped lunch. And we were so impressed with breakfast that we went back there for dinner that evening. This restaurant serves what I call "home cookin"meals. No matter what you order or how full you are, make sure and get a sopapilla for dessert. We'll definitely return to Michael's on our next trip to Taos.
