A Taos tradition for locals and visitors alike, the warm ambiance of the main latilla room in Doc's has been a gathering place since the Taos Society of Artist's first met here in the 1920's and 30's. Headed by Executive Chef Gary “Zippy” White, our menu is a presentation of New American and Northern New Mexican cuisine, specializing in fresh organic foods from the Southwest. Known for its incredible value and extensive breadth of selections from old to new world, our wine list has earned Wine Spectator's "Best Of" Award of Excellence for twenty-one consecutive years. “The best nachos”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 6, 2014

We stopped by for drinks and snacks at the end of the day and we loved the Adobe Bar at the Taos Inn. They have a great variety of drinks (have to try the margarita's) and the famous nachos! Service was quick and friendly. Prices are raisonnable.

“Great Food but Service a Disaster”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed May 6, 2014

We dined at Doc Martins on April 25,2014, a Saturday evening. We had dined there in October and had been impressed with the food and the service so looked forward to same. We did not have a reservation so there was a moderate wait, but that is expected. Our hostess was pleasant and kept checking on status of tables. Those who had reservations, however had to wait as long. When we were seated, it became evident why the turnaround of tables was taking so long. We sat for 10 minutes before we were offered menus and water. This was approximately 7 PM when the restaurant should be its busiest. We were never brought a wine or cocktail menu (they have excellent margaritas if you are offered a chance to order them). Our waitress when she finally came described the specials with a pause here and there to close her eyes and try to remember terms like demiglace, never quoted a price, and disappeared. We opted to order numerous small plates: chorizo and clams, seared scallops with a chili pesto, and blue corn cili rellenos- all excellent. Still had not ordered our margaritas, got her attention, she came back, we reminded her and she took that order. She described that those were her favorites. In the meantime there was a mild commotion at the table behind us as she had misplaced the credit card of the patron at that table. Once that got sorted out, she comes to our table to tell us that she had not stolen his credit card or lost it but had accidentally stuffed it in with her tickets. An oh by the way, what margaritas did we order again- she forgot. We advised her that they were likely the 2 that had been sitting on the bar for past 10 minutes. which she brought to us. Service remained slow and chaotic- she brought drinks to another table that had not ordered them. She offered us another margarita to split between us due to the slow service (assumed this was a comp??) and we shared this. This was an hour and half into our service. Finally the meal ended about 9 PM and we had been charged for a Margarita we would never have ordered otherwise-we did get her to remove the charge without difficulty). We did inform the manager of our experience and got the typical somewhat corporate 'I'm sorry" and was advised that it was a very busy night. Again this was prime time on a Saturday and most restaurants can handle this. The server was truly a nice person, she really was, but the service was a train wreck and I have to give management blame for not recognizing it

I see you normally write great reviews...so I know that you were definitely not handled in the way you should have been. Where to start, I am a little confused with the lack of dinner menu's and wine list...two very required elements of the table drop. Every diner every time is sat with a dinner menu and wine list no exceptions...10 minutes for water is approximately 9 minutes too long, that would have me feeling a bit anxious as well. Your server is an absolute love of the Inn, and has been working for us for over a decade, however sometimes even the veterans slip, still no excuse for your disappointment. As I inquire with everyone, did you ask for a manger while on the table. If so one should have appeared quickly, and resolved any issues you were having at the time. Once you leave there is only so much we can do, besides apologize. I have worked with my management staff to (even when busy) recognize when tables could be faltering, and step in before the point of no return, and make sure that the guest understands sometimes there are difficulties, but now we are all on deck to make sure the rest of the evening is not only salvageable, but memorable! I hope you understand that even the greatest of intentions sometimes fall short. If you so choose, come on back, introduce yourselves, and become life-long friends, as I know you will. Please contact me directly next time you are in Taos so I can extend that hand, and make sure that your experience is amazing!!!! As always, see you at the Inn!

“A very good meal of traditional, New Mexico flavors.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 30, 2014

We had dinner here on our second night in Taos. Very nice food which reflects the area's cuisine well. Not an up-scale place, but the prices are not up-scale either, so a good value for what you receive. The bar is very nice, with well crafted drinks, and the nightly music is a welcome addition.
