“Fresh fresh fresh”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 10, 2014

This was a fun place. The art work was terrific. The building it shared with a business was a bit strange but the atmosphere was fun and the food was so fresh. Outstanding dishes and the wait staff was very knowledgeable. We mentioned that we new a friend of the chef's that was living in New Orleans. The chef came out and visited for a time. Very nice and friendly place.

“Outstanding!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 10, 2014

We showed up without a reservation on a Tuesday night. While they were able to seat us right away, the place was quite full, so I'd suggest making a reservation so you're not disappointed.
We'd had a late lunch, so elected to share an appetizer, salad and entree. All were fantastic. The chili rajas were a fresh take on a Mexican classic, the salad was simple but a wonderful blend of flavors and textures, and the pasta--oh, my, the pasta. There are only a few entree selections, and just one fish and one vegetarian option. As someone whose only vegetarian choice has often been a lame pasta primavera, this was a revelation! Thick, chewy (in a good way) ribbons of home-made pasta, rich, flavorful wild mushrooms, asparagus, tissue-paper-thin slices of cheese, in a yummy garlicy olive oil sauce. To die for. Wish we'd had room for dessert.

“not to be missed!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 9, 2014

One of us is gluten free, the other eats virtually anything. There was no trouble obtaining a delicious, unusual, and especially well prepared gluten free meal. The waiter recommended grilled romaine for starters, and they do not skimp on excellent quality cheese; then I ordered baked trout with middle eastern spices and herbs, and i cannot recommend it highly enough. The trout came out with crispy skin and extremely moist fish, with very good and unusual flavor.

“Fantastic Find”

A highlight of our trip. Don't miss the Buffalo Tamales or the mushroom pasta. Knowledgeable waiter was so helpful, good wine list too. Really top notch.

“Creative menu, attentive service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 27, 2014

The online description of El Meze's trout dish brought us to dine there, and the dish was worthy of the trip. My pasta dish was delicious. The burnished gold color of the kiva fireplace near our table fit harmonized with the dark red walls. Our waiter was attentive but not overly so The local sourcing for vegetables and mushrooms appealed to us, too.Our experience at El Meze stands out as the most memorable restaurant meal we had in Taos
