Owner description: Los Rios River Runners is New Mexico's oldest, largest, and most experienced rafting company. We've been rafting through the spectacular river canyons of northern New Mexico since 1972. We offer trips from mild to wild, from half-day to 3-days, from the world-class white-knuckle whitewater of the Taos Box (available as a full-day adventure or as part of a multi-day overnight) to family fun adventures and serene floats. Spend starry nights in the serene Chama wilderness, or float along a mellow section of the Rio Grande with a Native Pueblo guide and a traditional feast meal awaiting you at the takeout. Sunset dinner floats too! And check out our multi-sport adventures: rock and raft, pedal and paddle, and paddle and saddle. Los Rios has more access to more stretches of river than any other NM rafting company, and offers the broadest variety of trips. Come boating with us, and take home lifetime memories.

“Highlight of our Taos vacation”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 6, 2013 via mobile

We took the Orillo Verde float trip with our 3 children ages 10, 8 and 7. The tip was about 2.5 hours including driving and launch time. The water was pretty low, so I would consider it safe for even weak swimmers. Later in the season with higher water I would think twice unless your kids are confident swimmers.

Our guide was Dylan (he is also a youth ski instructor at Taos Ski Valley) and he was great with the kids. He had a very calm and capable demeanor and pointed our interesting things to look at. All of the kids had paddles, but my husband and I provided the actual "engine power".

We went in a 6 person raft, but you also have the option of renting funyaks. The funyaks are suitable for those with some experience, otherwise you will get stuck and/or flip over.

The kids favorite part by far was when they got to jump into the Rio Grande and swim.

At the end of the trip the guides provided fruit and chips for a snack.

Make sure to purchase a waterproof camera and also we found kids sized water shoes at the Walmart in Taos for $4.98.

We wished we had down this trip first thing upon arrival instead of waiting for the last day so that we would have had time to book a second trip.

We would do an overnight trip on our next visit to Taos.

Thank you for a great time!

“There is good, better, and then there is Brian!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 22, 2013

Yesterday we completed the racecourse with another couple and Brian of Los Rios River Runners, and although the river was a bit down for this time of the year it in no way diminished the experience or the time we had. Brian, whose personality, enthusiasm, competence and knowledge made the trip exceptional for those fortunate to share it with him. He has a familiarity with the geology and botany of the area, a feel for the ebb and flow of the current, and a keen understanding of the culture of Taos as an artistic and aesthetic environment. I would go out of my way to secure his services in advance any time in the future when we return to the river, and I assure you we shall.

“Sunset Dinner Float”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 27, 2012

Thank you Joshua and Jim, we had such a great time on our dinner float on the Rio Grande in Taos. First of all, the river was calm, the scenery was beautiful and the conversation great. We floated and talked and it was magical.

As we approached the end of the float we saw a fire burning on the riverbank. Our dinner (salmon, chicken and steak, rosemary mashed potatoes, etc) was just about ready as we arrived.

Just a great time!
