“What a Place!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 24, 2009

I cannot say enough good about this quaint little inn. Yolanda, the proprieter, made us feel comfortable and quite at home. The food was wonderful and the views around the property are breathtaking. This has definitely become our "place to stay" in Taos.

We're actually here at the moment and have the wonderful Yolanda sitting beside me as I write this. For this trip, we came with two other couples who also love the Taos Country Inn. It's one of those things where once you find yourself in love with a town, you find your favorite stay and always go to that location. The Taos Country Inn is simply my love. If you go there, you'll instantly know what we mean. We were even lucky enough to be a guest during Yolanda's Birthday and her family were just a marvel, what a loving family. Thank you for everything you've done for us. Warmest, Michael.

We were not sure exactly what to expect during our visit but were extremely pleased with the all-around experience of our stay at Taos Country Inn. From the moment we walked up to the front desk for check in, we instantly were embraced and welcomed and felt like we were at home. The property was tucked away with a small stream running along the property edge and the scenery was beautiful. Yolanda, the inn keeper, was kind and generous, making us feel as though we were part of the family from the get go. The room we stayed in was basic, no frills, but clean, nice and cozy. We felt like we had a personal guide to Taos with Yolanda giving us great advice on places to go and visit, as well as personally calling in reservations and arranging all of our dining experiences which were incredible (especially Stakeout...an absolute must for any visit). It's as if she crafted each bit of advice especially for the taste preference of each visitor--keeping in mind each visitor's unique reasons for visiting Taos. We would highly recommend this locale and B&B for anyone who just wants a quiet weekend or just wants to hit the slopes. We will be back!

We are local New Mexicans who occasionally like to take weekend trips around the state. We found the Taos Country Inn several years ago and would not stay anywhere else. Yolanda is a fantastic hostess with a depth of knowledge of Taos which cannot be surpassed. The rooms are gorgeous, the breakfasts wonderful and the scenery spectacular. Feels like being in the countryside, but only minutes from the plaza. Don't miss this wonderful old hacienda!

It's hard to decide which aspect of this inn is more charming, the hostess, the inn or the location. All in all, it was the best stay in Taos we ever had. The rooms are great--Kiva fireplace stocked with
wood, comfortable beds, artistic decorations, totally clean. The hostess goes out of her way to make your stay exceptional and to tell
you about Taos, if you want to know. She is a life-long Taos resident and knows everyone and all the best places to shop or eat. The location is right out of a postcard, so be sure to bring your camera. It's a little tricky to find the first time because it's back on a country road, but that's all part of the charm. (You'll get a map with the reservation confirmation.) It's a real adobe ranch house, modernized with guests in mind. The breakfasts are cooked as you come into the dining room and includes a breakfast bar to sample fresh coffee or tea, fruit, yogurt, cheese and cereal while you wait. All the rooms are decorated with local art. It was quiet, restful, refreshingly peaceful, and very close to all the Taos galleries, shops and resturants. Don't miss this one for a great
stay.

My husband and I stayed here for just one night in May. We arrived late afternoon, and were surprised to be driving down a dirt road, to get to the B&B! It had been raining, so it was a bit muddy, and the car got very dirty. Once we got inside the house, however, it was very comfortable, and our fears were relieved. We didn't have too much tome to relax before dinner, so didn't get a chance to enjoy the living room area in the main house.
Our room was located just outside, across a few flagstones from the livng room and breakfast area, so very quiet and private. There was basically two rooms, the first with kiva fireplace, tv, and couch with coffee table. The bedroom area had the bed, and counter space and sink. The bathroom had toilet and shower/tub.
Yolanda was very gracious, and gave us a map with plenty of good places to eat dinner in town around the square. She also had menus to help you decide where to go.
We got back after dinner, undressed, and settled in to the couch to watch tv. My husband went to light the fire, but alas, no matches! So, we went without the benefit of a cozy fire.
The bed was ok, but as previously mentioned, the sheets could be newer, and the towels/wash cloths were a bit old as well.
Breakfast was delicious.
We would stay here again.

This inn offers a very personalized experience. We felt like we were guests in someone's home, and Yolanda (the owner) is a great host.

We stayed in the Alexis suite, which was large with a bedroom and separate living area.

The best thing about the inn was the service we received from the host. After we checked in, she showed us to our room and gave us a map of all of our restaurant options and showed us how to get to the ski valley the next day. She offered to make dinner reservations for us and gave us lots of advice about Taos.

For breakfast, Yolanda laid out healthy items including cereals, fruit, etc., and made a hot entree. The first day was whole wheat banana pancakes, and the second day was an egg dish with ham and fresh salsa. All of it was very good.

Drinks were available in the refrigerator, including several different types of wine and soda.

The room was spacious, and we enjoyed the fireplace. The sheets and towels were not of the best quality. Also, if you come during the winter, be warned that the road that leads to the inn is not cleared. It snowed quite a bit when we were there, but we managed to get in and out in our rental SUV. The inn is located on a very quiet residential street.

If you are looking for spacious accommodations in a quiet, personal inn that feels like a home, this inn is certainly worth a look.
