“Love the Taos Inn!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 11, 2013

This was my second time to stay at the Taos Inn, and again, it was wonderful. We stayed four nights in the main building. Since I was travelling with my son, we stayed upstairs in a room with 2 beds. It was overlooking the main floor, where there was nightly entertainment, but that was part of the fun! The music is from 7 to 10pm or so, so it's not like it goes on late into the night or anything. I took a peek into several other rooms while the maids were cleaning, just to see what they were like, and they looked wonderful, as well. Everything about the Taos Inn is first-rate. The outdoor patio is nice for having a cocktail in the evening with nachos, or a snack. They have a great margarita menu! I love that it is right in the heart of downtown and you can walk everywhere. It gets very quiet after 11pm or so, so no traffic noise to speak of. Very highly recommend the Taos Inn.

We had a room in garden courtyard behind the main inn, very nice! Added in the 30's it had an old feel but modern bathroom. Clean and spacious and walkable to the old part of town and plaza. Parking was free. Restaurant on site was great! Walking to breakfast had many options around town. A man who registered just before us was given a room at the top of the stairs and told that the music stopped at ten, but he was back saying the room was too small. Ours was great! I feel it was a good value and great location!

Great place to stay with easy access to the Historic plaza and local roads to Taos Pueblo, Rio Grande Gorge and public access areas.

This is a true historic hotel but had many updates that did not take away from its authenticity.

Parking was a little challenging for our motorcycles (uneven gravel lot) but should be no issue for other vehicles. The lot is not monitored and we had a tank of gas siphoned from one of our bikes. The lobby (check-in desk) is also the same area for love music making it a little crowded at times but did not affect our stay and actually had some great performances.

All-in-all we had a great stay.

the old hotel has some character.not nearly as nice or great as their info indicated. Not handicap friendly. to narrow halls and to many step downs .sidewalks almost don't exist. parking is a dirt lot way out back.I guess I don't really have any thing nice to say about this experience, music from the live band was good.
Would not stay here again.

Room Tip: ask for rooms in the back plaza area.

You can't beat this hotel for convenience. The grassy courtyards and pleasant patios are very inviting. However, the rooms are too historic for my taste -- dark and not very charming -- although the baths were renovated and very nice. We asked to change from a room on the first floor because it was too close to where live music plays every night. We were cheerfully moved to a little suite further back in the complex. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The lobby and restaurant are great.

Room Tip: I would definitely ask for a room near the back of the hotel.

We spent three night at the Taos Inn and stayed in room 103 on the ground floor. Rooms 101 -103 back up to the alley entrance which is where the main parking area is for hotel guests and the area stores, restaurants etc. and can be quite noisy at times. They have great live music til 10:00 PM every night in the main lobby area, so if you are not a fan I suggest you stay in one of the rooms located in the outside courtyard area or Helen's house. Our room was very clean, with beautiful antique furnishings, a comfortable bed, nice bathroom and an adobe fireplace. The Front Desk staff was always very accomodating and friendly. There was a discrepancy in my room rate from what was originally reserved - vs - what I was charged and it was taken care of and adjusted immediately with little problem. Rooms are a bit on the expensive side, but it's a greay hotel in a fantastic location.

My friend and I were traveling through Taos and just wanted an inexpensive stay overnight. We called the Inn and we were told all they had left was a room at the top of the stairs that had twin beds for $75.00 per night. They said that often people complained because of the neon sign for the inn outside the window. We said we would take it, and wow! are we glad that we did. It was an awesome little suite, and neon sign only gave it more character. I love that sign. The room had a table right outside on the balcony that overlooked the central lounge where there was live music both nights that we were there. The Inn itself is amazing, very clean, and has an old country feel about it. We ate in the in-house restaurant which had a fabulous and unique menu. I recommend the rattle snake and rabbit sausage. We wandered the city at night and felt that I had fallen into a time tunnel or something and been transported back a couple of hundred years or so. I highly recommend this inn and if you don't mind twin beds ask for the room at the top of the steps. We ended up extending our stay and fell in love with Taos.
