Santa Rosa was our first stop on our way home. I used a Reward Night to stay at the Quality Inn. I made the reservation a month in advance. Upon arriving before 5P, we checked in. We were given a room on the 2nd floor. This hotel has no elevator. I asked if we could please have a room on the first floor as we are 76 and stairs are a problem when carrying luggage up. I was told that the rooms were for people with reservations. We didn't argue, but were very upset. We had reservations. No one smiled at check-in, no one told us what time breakfast was and upon checkout no one again smiled. The garbage can in the breakfast room was almost full, so upon checkout I said something. No one did anything. They just looked at me. The hotel is OK, but the staff leave a lot to be desired. I wrote to the GM, but, of course haven't gotten answer. I love the Choice Hotel chain, but will not be staying here again.

I DID in fact finally receive an answer from the GM of the Quality Inn. I sent in a copy of my bill so they would know exactly who I was talking about. I received a very nice reply explaining that they would indeed talk to the people involved and said if I printed the e-mail he had sent I would get a complimentary room the next time I passed through. I took him up on the offer and have a room awaiting when we go to Arizona this winter. I told him I would let him know how we were treated this time around. I also asked that the front desk NOT be made aware of the reason for the complimentary room. I want to see how they act not knowing they are being evaluated. I plan on writing another letter to let the GM know how they reacted this time. As I said at the beginning, I really liked the hotel but the staff left a lot to be desired.
